I agree with sputnikov. some good ideas in this, they deserve to be given a fuller treatment.

This song put a grin on my face. I love your lyrics, and your voice. The "spit and polish" will come in time, but your compositions are already pretty solid.

I must not be "most people" because this is my kinda music. definitely a throwback to the good ol' days of darkwave. I agree that there's room for improvement production wise, but I actually prefer music that's a little rough around the edges. I'm downloading this and looking for more from Girl Icarus...

neither, actually. I'm not really too into any particular software.. I own several, and usually find myself doing different parts for the songs in different programs, and/or bouncing the track back and forth between them. I've got several different programs, but the ones I probably use the most are FL for synths and sequencing, and an old one they don't make anymore called Cool Edit that will always have a special place in my heart (and hard drive) for a lot of recording, tracking, processing, etc.. but basically, if it'll host a vst and won't cost an arm and a leg, (like pro tools) I'll use it.

leave it to me to be too busy to log in the day my own song is featured.

Thanks for the input and comments, all. I could have sworn I put Liner notes down on this.. ah well, guess I can do so now...
about the vox.. yeah, I thought about going with a single track for this, but it sort of felt a little ~too~ soft like that.. I need my songs to have some dirt on them. but eh, it's a personal thing.. I might try going with just the one next time I do something softer like this.. and elephant, thanks for the second set of ears on that one. I've been screwing around with high-pass filtering, and new EQ tricks (new to me anyway) to try to clean out my mixes a bit, and listening back, I agree.. the low end could definitely use a bit more punch..
and firefly.. you wacky Brit... ;P

hehehe yeah.. I dig this. sounds like Danny Elfman collaborating with Styx. You don't really hear this style anymore. well done. my only complaint would be that the vocal is hard to understand, and gets drown out by the music at some points..

Agreed with the others. Musically, this is solid (I would rate much lower if not) but the vocals ruin this; terribly performed, and horribly mishandled in production.

I used to hang out with a guy that was in a band that sounded like this.. same style and everything. Their singer was bad.. I mean.. bad. and everyone told them so as well.. Finally, the guy swallowed his pride and shelled out some money for some voice lessons, and their whole sound improved dramatically within weeks. they started gigging all over the Northwest. Just something to think about...

(p.s. Ditch that god awful 'screamo' scream! it can be effective if used sparingly, but it's a crutch you're leaning on too hard)

Awesome as always. I've got to say, although this didn't grab me quite like the last one you posted, you still are far and away one of the best home studio-musicians I've encountered in your style. Just a guy, a guitar, and some heartfelt lyrics.. keep'em coming!

heheh I dig this. sounds like part of the soundtrack to a cool movie.. either guy Ritchie or Quintin Tarantino... hardily beat the competition

opinion noted.. but, I should point out, I've posted thirty tracks just here on redfizz, and if you were to look at my entire body of work, you'd see that's just a small fraction of what I've done. I'm not really out to "impress" anyone, but I do think I'm entitled to lighten up and have a laugh now and then.

Thx for the comments, all...

the guitar solos in this are probably my favourite part. They're played by this guy: -a good friend of mine, and a musical genious imho. he always comes up with something a bit off the wall to throw into these WMR songs, but it's always something good...
