Jeff Lynne much? Cool melodies. Do the drums really require this much reverb? This is dreamy and fun.

Funny is a matter of personal taste, of course, but this song IS the world's most homo-erotic song about pot-butter. Hopefully that settles it.

We used Zoom H4N. It records 4 tracks at once. 2 are from the built-in condenser mic (captures room noise), and two lines from the sound board. If you can help it, get the engineer send 1 channel of just vox and the other channel of the total mix. It produces decent live demos like this.

Alright garlits1, I'm not sure what chillout music you're talking about, but perhaps you should run off and listen to it now, because wow. You should chill out. There are no pre-recorded bass lines in this song, so I'm going to assume that you're talking about my use of a guitar loop in the beginning of the track. We probably bought the same loop collection, and god forbid two artists use the same loop. That would be like two artists playing the same chords! For shame! And live music sucks? Seriously? How do you think music gets recorded in the first place?

Furthermore, I find it odd that you hate both "pre-recorded" music in live settings, and live music in and of itself. Just what is it about music that you DO like? Perhaps just your own...

Anyway, this was recorded using nothing but a Zoom device in a big old nasty basement room, and I was just curious how you (reasonable people) were going to respond to it. Oh I've managed to greatly reduce the boom in the drums since I posted this on the Fizz, which really cleared up the early 80s MTV feel.

Unk, that's fairly obvious.
Thanks for your honesty Meat. I know it doesn't have to please everyone to be good art. I'm just trying to go new (to me) directions.
This arrangement was heavily inspired by a local band called lookbook. If you DO like this song, I'd recommend checking them out.

This seems to be eliciting some pretty strong reactions. I'm thinking it's a "love it or hate it" kind of song. Personally, of course, I hate it. :)

Good groove. I like the drum sound you got here -- especially the kick drum.

Dizzying and wild and very cool. Then it suddenly changes tones. I am enjoying this a lot.

Yeah I said "jengis". That's how it's pronounced... or so I've heard.

There's a chance that the mix is kinda #@&%!ed up. I need to squeeze that big bass line into place. I believe it's too boomy still.

And as for the "novelty synth textures?" Wow, if this weren't a place for criticism, that would almost hurt. ;) Don't worry arpmoog, I know how.

My first thought is this could benefit from busier drums... Cool breaksbeats, like DNB drums. Think Perry Ferrell's solo record "Song Yet to Be Sung" or David Gray's "Please Forgive Me"

Your voice reminds me a bit of Russell Monk's. Cool guitar #@&%! too. This song is definitely listenable. Top-notch #@&%!.

If you're up for it, I'd consider a different take on your drums. In fact, if you're REALLY up for it, get in touch with me and I'LL take a stab at 'em. :) Seriously.

As usual, your music is well-arranged and produced. I wonder if you could soften up some of your sounds with some more reverb. It might afford you a more classic-soul sound.
