thanks for the comments so far guys. listening back i think qualcomm and unklesam are right about the vocals, i should have had a couple of shots before singing it.

i like to keep my guitar solos really short, like 4 bars.

this song really needs some drums too.

p.s. qualcomm, you know they have highschools in rural, religious places too ;)

Um, hello Size Queens. My name is Stairwellsongs, and I have question for you.

Why do you think this song is so smart?

I mean, it's fine, I kind of like it actually, it's cute, slightly clever and slightly catchy, and I don't mind the repitition. But everytime someone criticizes it you assume that they must be too #@&%!ing dumb to understand your profound insights, your cutting wit, the rhetorical might with which you've rent asunder American mini-mall hypocrisy. So explain to me, please, why this song (which, again, I actually do like) is particularly smart. I mean, golly, it's kind of ironic... you say something while sort of meaning the opposite! You must be the new Shakespeare or some #@&%!! You know what I always say: if there's one thing that's sorely lacking in today's indie rock, it's distanced, over-intellectualized irony. Thanks for making us all smarter.

On the other hand, I can't hear all the lyrics clearly. Maybe there's some unbelievable literary genius that I'm missing. Enlighten me.
won't you carry me home?

yup... it's me stairwellsongs. i accidentally made two profiles for myself.

thanks for all your comments. i'm pretty fond of this one. as far as the simplicity of the chord progressions, i like the old classics. i think you can still make them sing yet again.

mostly i'm proud of the rhyming in this song. and yeah, festival express is AWESOME.

this song is a great verse crying out for a great chorus. with a catchy chorus this song could be really killer. turn up of the vocals too. you sound exactly like a male fiona apple. fiona would have the killer chorus though.

too sincere? is that sarcasm? this seems like a joke to me, like he's making fun of a certain type of r&b song. i think it's funny. i especially like the part where he eat her face.

i actually like this... the singer's got a nice voice, some of the lyrics are good. i'm not crazy about the instrumental tracks though. they're too pleasant and soothing, too radio-ready adult contemporary. for a song called "hard road" this is pretty easy-listening. turn up the drum tracks in the second half, maybe mess around with the fingerpicking to make it more sparse, more johnny cash than kenny chesney, and you might have something here.

this got featured? jeez... sucks for everybody in the reject pile who actually tried to make good music instead of something dumb and mildly amusing. zero stars.
