ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

i think this song is really as pop as mine tend to get, terms of format- i's verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, verse/outro so i'm not sure of what musically you're referring to
and could you explain how it's meandery
holding up mirrors

thank you, aaron. i'd like to think that even if it's not fame there, but maybe just something i could do with it all to move people or myself or connect with people in some way

a while ago one of the fizzers suggested ( ithink aaron) to listen to 'motel room blues' by loudon wainwright, becuase it is the basis from which all conor obersts' songs are written. i;m listening right now and i can hear what he meant.

oh ok, well i see clearer what you mean then and where you're coming from. which is realy important sometimes when discerning people's advice, i think. thanks for telling me that, it helps me. yeah, i like 'weiiird chorrds'. not really, i just like what i like and often it happens to be chords that are a little outside of the normal, basic chord voicings

not really.

or i could tell you the fictional version...
then, all the girls started braiding my hair. wild, crazy, passionately braiding my hair. it turns out, all of my female friends have braid-fetishes and it just sent them over the edge. and wild sex ensued, etc., etc.

bratty- i think i'm more foolish than brave in this case, ha. yeah, good advice with the percussion and such...what doyuou mean about the chord phrasing though, in this song n particular?

the party was in my apartment and i remember lying on the floor of the living room while some of my friends played with my hair.. it's bizarre to think back on actually
moving particles to meet new eyes

thanks. i will now look again at yer comment and weed out the people you suggested. "what the heck". i alos liek that you spelled music with a k, even if you didn't mean to

ok, so you and the song clashed. you didn't get it, dig it; it's not for you. but what you were saying, and there was a lot of it, was stated as fact, and what's final, when they're not and really don't need all that hot air that you were giving to them. i'm sorry that i'm giong on about this i just forgot to include this in my last thread and i would like to, because i too am opinionated i guess.

ruben, the thing is, your comment was so sauratedin personalized, opinionated, rant. pure rant. you barely showed that you were listening to the song as it were- rather, it was obvious to me reading your comment that you quickly put the song, my 'girlish voice' and myself as a musician into a category of music that pisses you off. it's easy to do that, but what i wanted was for you to,r ather than saying 'the melody is a disaster', explain in terms of musicality WHY for you that is so. pretty ballsy thing to say. back it up in less subjective and totally personalized terms next time, is what i suggest.

scott- yeah, a teacher of mine suggested the same thing, about the guitar not coming in till later. maybe not a bad idea, thanks
