I have to say that Ruud's comment is very perceptive. I put this song up here not expecting it to be featured and thought the comments would echo and reinforce my own feelings - that while the production is cool in a late night "vibey" (so we intended and hoped) - and I LOVE the female backing vocals) kind of way - it does or did need something else and plods along a bit and needs to go somewhere else along the way.
And FYI I did have a trumpet player come and lay down some nice bits - which we took at at the last moment. Maybe we should revisit that decision?
Thanks

I think I have to weigh in.This was a total experiment done maybe as a segway track on the record we were working on recently. Billy played chords. Sing or speak something, he said. I had some old lyrics (old enough that i don't remember writing them or what they are even referencing?!) at hand. One take. The he said try whispering the same words. He added some sampled noises. Done. Half hour start to finish. I am a big Sparklehorse fan and it was done in that vain.Well, the "sound" at least.
Yes, the lyrics are likely a bit depressing, to say the least and I doubt I will include it in the final mix of songs. as in the end I don't really think it works. But, I wanted to put it up here to get some outside opinions.
Thanks for that/these....

Thanks so much. I have been on the road for much of the last while and haven't really had the time. But, I have been writing a bit. I hope to do some recording in the nearish future.

Yes - maybe you have a point. I felt it was too long - the second chorus for example. I have made it sub 5 mins now. It is a song still not really finished, having been recorded just a few days ago. Guess that's one of the reasons I post stuff here, feedback and all - and, often it's stuff i sort am already feeling in my gut.
gracias...

Gracias for all the comments. I've been away from the scene for a bit - fixing up a wee casa on a hillside in Mexico - (no hispeed yet) and now the Whiteman and me have set up a little studio in the frontroom and so maybe expect to hear a few more tunes sometime soon and some commentary from me.............:-)

On second listen I hear shades of ( a more sane) Syd Barrett - od rest his demented soul. I do agree with the comments about the long intro - i think you have to wait till you reach Wilco staus before you can get away with that...
