Hey Poolhouse,

we're still going strong... Currently in the final stages of recording our new album (check out our promo clip for our single Goodness gracious at, although we did lose a few old members and gain some new ones.

We have stopped posting completed album tracks on here, and are just putting up early demos or b-sides. This song and 'The darker things' will be the b-sides for our goodness gracious/The Flowers double A-Side single which is available to download on our triple J Unearthed page

Real nice, has a bit of an Okkervil River sound. If this is a demo, when you do a better recording you should keep the same instrumentation.

I think you could have came up for a better melody over this progression. Very tasty instrumentation.

This is better than the critics make it out to be, the vocals are much more interesting than a lot of others.

Yeah, this may seem a little stalled at times because i used loops for everything. I recorded each section once and tried to multiply it manually, i could have played it through but i was just experimenting...

Another well produced, well performed song. I just find it to be very middle of the road. The lyrics are cliche-emotive and kinda trite and the vocals sound 'put on'. Obvious structure and chord changes too.

Yeah, i agree that this would get tonnes of radio airplay and get you a large fan base... i'd just never be apart of it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Some good points, and interesting/post modern comments.

Hey DonnieDarko, I agree with you completely, and I should have added (rough demo) to the end of the title of this one, because that's what it is.

I'm looking to emphasize the difference between the sections of the song.. the verse ("heading down to the edge of the town") will be more folksy, the chorus ("I don't know where I'm going") is more rocky, while I'm hearing a bit of a regae feel to the bridge ("and everything we say, is just a drink away, it's just to entertain").

I smell radio play... unfortunately, being the snotty elitist that i am, i tend to dislike this style of singing/song. Points for doing it well though (plus people underestimate a good mid-section).

I'm not really a fan of the voice and lyrics, the vocal trilling at the beginning and end jerked me around too.
