Whisper Scream (take 3)
boygenuis: After listening to this on repeat a bunch, I think I can find a place for this in my collection.

ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

Weird, I like it.

I don't mind the vocal effect - I think it goes with the whole shallow gen-Y thing on this song. Good fun.

heh no - this is just me, it was all I had ... hadn't been able to get the band into the studio until last week. Full band demos on the way, including an electric version of this with drums and bass. Maybe you'll vote on that?

This has a really cool feel to it (love the shaker) but the vocals really detract from that. It kind of sounds like depeche mode and radiohead are playing in studios next door to each other with no soundproofing - interesting, but not really fun to listen to. Consider doing the vocals in a very different style, or maybe just making this an instrumental piece.

I like this, it has a nice swing to it. I can really imagine watching the sunset with a drink in hand while the band plays this out on the patio. It does go on a bit long though... seems to run out of lyrics about halfway through the song.

The comments on rejected songs are always so much better than on second stage. From now on I'm only submitting my least accessible work! Thanks everyone.

Heh - good guess headspinrock, actually it is about a japanese bicycle. (google "mama chari" and you'll see what it is).

I actually agree about the advertisement feel, mrwest, but it's intentional (or at least integral)... I want it to sound a little bit j-pop, which I'm afraid is inseparable from sounding a little bit like an advertising jingle. In fact I now do this with my band and it really sounds like it could be a coke commercial.

I do appreciate your comments about dynamics, that is something I've been working on since this was recorded and I continue to feel out. Can you be more specific about what vocal tricks you are talking about?

Raw, folky, nice. I like the line about a parasite without a host.

I have to agree w/ the previous comments. I do love the piano - very nice. I think if the song doesn't build more - and I'm not sure it necessarily has to - it should be shorter, maybe 3:30 instead of 5:30.

Nice song - i could hear it in a movie soundtrack for example. The piano gets off tempo sometimes. Would be nice to add lyrics too, just to give something more to latch onto.

Too 80s for my taste, but well done anyway.

Man I hated this. Sounds like frank zappa, and I don't like him either.

Kinda like REM walking in on Beck when he's really toasted in his home studio. I think it could be done better (the drums in particular are weak, and so are the high vocals) but - better than the other guy. You win.
