ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

The inspirational Mr Monges is back... there is no one quite like him. I LOVE this track, it's heartbreaking and fragile and ORIGINAL. At any moment you might expect it just to give up the ghost, but it carries on despite... like we all do... FEATURED!!

Cor that is really good. Thanks for letting us into the secret of the inspiration. I listened to this song whilst looking into the Kandinsky painting, it literally came alive... wonderful interpretation. I sometimes think an "inability" to play an instrument can be a real advantage, you are more selective about what to play...

I remember the first time I heard this song on good old garageband.com. I was struck by the quality of songwriting, performance and production. A classic sounding song. I wished I had written in. I still do.

Wonderful warmth. Traditional and simple. Harmony's are sweet. Harmonica tops it. My cup of tea...

Slightly muffled sound, but real energy, verve and enthusiasm in the performance, which is kind of uplifting for the listener (me). Sounds like it is recorded "live", I mean as a band. I particularly enjoyed the guitar, some lovely playing. As a song / arrangement I personally felt it lost it's way a bit towards the end... around the drop.

A violin or cello would be fab... I have a problem with synth strings, especially as what I like most about this track is the natural recorded sound. It seems to jar.

People in the UK went nuts over the Fleet Foxes last year. The overall sound is very similar - retro reverb. I like the low-fi nature of the recording guitar bass sound great. Synth string add nothing IMO.

Thanks for listening and all your comments (well most of them...).

Some of you may remember me working with Wayne Monges last year, well encouraged by that experience I have been involved in other collaborations.

This song is a collaboration of myself (UK), Erich Berg - drums (US), Scott Cryer and Rob MacDonald - Electronic guitars and keyboards (Canada).

Marvelous.

Cor, I love this song... warm, subtle and intimate. Beautiful melodic bass is the highlight for me. Well recorded vocals and nice touch with the xylophone-type-thing (?). If I could change one thing it would be to record the guitar with a mic - I'm not crazy about the DI acoustic sound.

I must be a crushing bore because I love all of Waynes songs, this is no exception. I'm wondering however if he is secretly a bit psychotic. This is one of his songs that exude a gentle malevolence, think about the snake in Jungle book. Music, lyrics and deliver knit perfectly for me. What is a strong vocalist anyway? It rather hear a "voice" - this is not opera - so it's all down to taste.
How can I live without you?

Thanks you two. In case anyone is interested this is a quick re-recording of "The dumb dum song" which reflects the way I play it live (no band). I don't mind telling you I like this version better... but there's no accounting for taste :-P
