ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

did not see the vocals coming. it works, but needs more to it. kind of stays on the same level the entire time.

i wonder if happy likes the cocteau twins. maybe not. also a very scott walker-ness to her vocals. great synth line in the chorus.

hmmm...not bad. song doesn't seem to move well, a bit jangly. good vocal melody, nice padding, but rhythm isn't very strong. the beat itself isn't too bad, everything just isn't in sync. keep working on vocals. songwriting is probably the strongest aspect.

need to work on lyrics. most verses have too many words and the lyrics are a bunch of cliches. solo is too long and indulgent. way too many words.

distorted guitar sounds like ass.
singing is ok. lyrics aren't very engaging. neither is the melody.
instrumentation is overpowering and epic for epics sake. song just doesn't build well. the build ups are undeserved.

guitar sound and level kicks #@&%!in' ass. reminds me a lot of stone temple pilots. not hacking or anything, but reminiscent of that sound. i think the ending could have been shorter. but, whatev. good stuff brohans!

you know, some people say that the layered vocals are there favorite part of song. so the lesson learned is that it goes to show that no matter what you do or how you interpret a song, some people will love it and some won't. you can't sit around thinking about how people will react to something, because if it stands out at all someone is going to hate it. i could record a very pretty song where everything is nice and unoffending, but it would suck. people really like you for the bolder things you do whether it's lyrics, double vocals or adding empasis on a 's' sound.

also, i'd like to say that most of the criticism i ever receive on this site is for the simplicity of my music. not enough drums, not enough whatever. but, the people who really love my music love it for the lyrics and vocal harmonies and that's what i mainly emphasize. sometimes i leave out things where others would put them to keep the emphasis on what makes my songs different. once again, they're going to love it or hate it.

dashboard confessional? that's a first. i saw them once when they opened up for beck. that was a bad choice. there were dc fan boys up in front heckling "the black keys." then after dc was finished they just left.

when we play this song we add more purcussion at the end, but for the recording we didn't feel like it needed to be messed with. it's the catchiest song on the album and we felt adding too much would muddle it up. executive decision. you know?

when i was adding the second vocals to this i had just done a couple shots of black velvet. so, it loosened me up a bit and made me add those extra little s-sounds.

ya, sometimes i wonder whether the last chorus was necessary for sake of flow, but it's there. this is the final recording. i wash my hands of it.

if anyone is interested, new cd up.
