The simple solution is to take your self less seriously. There has to joy in music, even really angry, serious music. Ray Charles was awesome at joy. Hit the Road Jack done by a Millenium Rock Band would have come off as a four minute poor-me song. Actually, rage against the machine has a lot of joy in their stuff too, they just love the #@&%! out of what they're doing, you can tell. funny you guys should mention that, its quite the debate at this other site I was at

Screaming Whitey I like this definition of emo. Emo and screamo are not an opinion, they are genres. Most people who use the word emo have no clue what music it refers to. No emo band has ever been seen on MTV or FUSE or TV in general. Emo is (rather WAS) a sub genre of hardcore punk. Ian McKaye and Guy Piccalato(s) were tired of the restraint of hardcore and decided to do somthing new. Ian McKaye's band Embrace and Guy Piccalato's Rites of Spring were the first emo bands. Emo is a form of music that is very anti commercialism, it is mostly written in minor chords and without catchy lyrics. Emo lyrics tend to deal with politics, social conditions and sometimes personal things such as relationships and apathy, the latter of the two occurs more. The lyrics are usualy introspective giving personal opinions on issues rather than simply stateing facrs. Emo can come off as being very abbrasive and "in your face" to somone unfamiliar with the genre. I know must people now adays don't want to accept this, due to the fact they are constantly bombarded with the media image of "emo" which is not emo at all, bands like Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance are nothing more than watered down pop music. If you do not believe me I pity you, why would I take the time to write out a lie? Remember this is FACT not opinion. Some emo bands you should check out: Embrace (very good starter band) Rites of Spring Moss Icon (My personal favorite emo band and one of my favorite bands of all time) Dag Nasty and some early Jawbreaker I'm not as familar with screamo but their arn't and have never been any mainstream screamo bands, The Used are not emo or screamo, that is a fact. check out Neil Perry for a begging screamo band (one of the few I have heard) Please take the time to read this.

i like screaming like nirvana and tool... the song usually leads up to a scream. i never liked bands like pantera where that aggressive screaming and grunting is used through the whole song and is expected to be recieved as music, but i could still respect its intensity. nowadays these high school kids are listening to all sorts of bands who scream the entire time AND THEY'RE NOT EVEN SCREAMING it's whisper scream i swear all of them do it!!! WHAT IS WITH THE KIDS THESE DAYS

this isn't really a favorite of my songs; it sort of stemmed from how there's those screamo bands with two singers and one sings and one screams and i thought the only way to get people to understand the absurdity of the concept was to put it in a stripped down acoustic setting. Also i was starting to get annoyed at how people write "joke songs" and they end up not having a hook or any replay value whatsoever so i wanted to try to combine a good song with a joke song. maybe i failed or succeeded but it depends on how you percieve it. usually someone is like WHO DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS and i've anticipated these types of reactions. it appears that you either love it or hate it, and it's pretty much what i expected :)

like the picking at the beginning--always liked that cheap trick. At times he sounds like a thrash singer with laryngitis. It's very interesting though--with a little more craft this song might have something. There are some interesting parts--including the falsetto. The lyrics are very interesting: "I wonder what your husband looks like, and if you have kids"--"Best friends forever". This could really rock--best friends for ever could be a chorus. The falsetto a mid-point digression. Weird, but wonderful in its own masturbatorial way.
