Animal Tropical - Fusing the wry and witty songcraft perfected by Steely Dan with tropicalia, rock, Animal Tropical's sound is super-danceable and, for all its quirkiness, goes over big with booty shakers of all colors, creed, and class.

Elvis Costello meets Warren Zevon...wild and enjoyable. Liked the sloppy vocals....Some of the lyrics were really good....Good energy.

that's funny, I swear I came up with the Good Times thing on my own.

This does have "that Jersey sound" (via Miami?) as someone below said, but if Bruce Springsteen ever sounded this good I would actually own a Bruce Springsteen album. OK I have Greetings from Asbury Park but that's really the only BS album anyway.

I love what these guys are doing, they're out of Florida, which explains the southern fried revival sound. I love it! Man I bet these guys have one of the best live shows around. Another group that actually uses harmonies, and has clever song writing! The backing vocals in this song are well done, especially with the call and answer in the begining. Not to mention I think I can hear a touch of The Blues Brothers on that organ!! How sweet is that? And I simply love the paniced sounding breathing at the end of the song. Really, these guys are some of the best on RF. I may even be in love with them. 4 and 1/2, and I don't give over 4 stars easily....

These guys are REALLY good at making songs I would never willingly subject myself to but would appreciate if cornered. Well done but please stay away from me.

If I gave a song like this anything but a 0.5, i'd have to flogg myself naked with a dirty alternator belt soaked in hot sauce and acetalyne.

Science!

This is the third time I've listend to this. I think I shouldn't vote on it because I hate the Jersey sound. I despise it, almost as much as I hate Country.
+1 star for not being country.
It's good for what it is, I guess. They all know their parts and don't walk all over eachother, except in that jersey music (think e-street, SNL band, et al) kind of way. So they're good at making something I can't stand. Like gourmet olive loaf.
No vote from me

BB - .5 for hating it?

I have to agree. This song is well done. Like golf claps all around, everything is done well. But I don't like it that much, I guess it's all personal preference. I have to vote somewhat on preference. It is done well. Um.

GOD JOB!

Oh god. This is so good. And I hate it. Great arrangements, vocals are perfect--the backing vocals are beautiful. The instrumentation is incredible. Such a wonderful mix of passion and musicianship. That organ in the background is great. The "horns" also work perfectly. The best boogie rock outfit out there. goddam it. MEH. Perfect.

both this song and your last one (seashell) really remind me of the theme song from "good times." less weird and original than seashell, but i think i like it better.
