Vonnegut Dollhouse - Having shaped their sound through an unrelenting rehearsal schedule, frequent appearances in some of Vancouver's finest venues and a brief tour of their home province as well as the wild rose country, Vonnegut Dollhouse will be returning to choice studio, The Hive Creative Labs, this summer to record once again with Ornamental Etherworld engineer, Jesse Gander.

Last year saw the release and subsequent tour in support of Ornamental Etherworld. The album was garnered international attention due to its award-winning and Juno nominated packaging design, put together by Jeff Harrison. The album doesn't rest on it's visually artistic laurels alone, however, with positive reviews coming from music critics and show-goers alike.

Members Alyson Fun and Ozmuir share vocal and guitar/bass duties while James Henry Ford III, Chris Cantrell and Jakub Vonnegut expertly support them on keys, guitar, and drums respectively.

Ornamental Etherworld has charted in the top 30 most played albums at several campus station across Canada, and was also named 5th top selling local album shortly following its release at Vancouver record store, Red Cat Records.

Vonnegut Dollhouse is certain to be a band to watch next year and the group is anticipating a more exhaustive tour following the release of their next album. Fans of the five-piece will recognize a few familiar elements but should expect a departure, as the band continues to play Magellan of unexplored rock landscapes.

in my vast collection of keys, I don't think I have this sound in my tonebank.

I bet Justin Potts does though.

Another sweet one. Vocals so airy...then quirky when I least expect it. Need to get a bit tighter with the casio though

like a lot about this...especially the female...greatlyrics and vocals...like the trading/harmonizing... the the overall sound could be a little more...raw...um- maybe clean crisp electric strumming instead of the acoustic..and a heavy #@&%!in beat. Rock this #@&%! out- i hear punk influence in the phrasing and guitars but the sonic vibe doesn't carry the attitude

4 other girls in the band that are males? well, every band needs a gimmick... with all those girls, i still don't see the need for multi-tracking as you call it. cool song though...

It sounds very indie. I like it. Although the melody fluctuates from being good to being bland which is what keeps it from crossing the fictional line of success. All in all, it's a good composition.

I mostly like this.

The thing that bothers me though is that one note. Is anybody else hearing it? It's an off note you're playing during the intro. The first part of the intro is fine, 3 chords, but then when the strumming comes in, you add some note that just doesn't fit, to the third chord in the progression. I'm guessing it's intentional because you do it several times, but it's jarring. But when the intro's over, you don't do it again. Which I was thankful for.

Like the changes of pace. It's like a little symphony with all these parts. Really like the kind of 80's Vapors, Devo vocal delivery and lyrics sung upbeat and ooh oohs. Little casio keyboard break at 3:15. Very neat recording. Cool strum outro.

This song is a bit of fresh air in this contest. I like the theatricality of it, although I think it would benefit if it was a minute shorter...Well, that's my opinion, there's no accounting for taste as we all know.
As for all the critics/commentators who are contemplating "what kind" of songs they need for the film - that's really up to only person - the director (and often in my experience even they don't know what they want). I mean that it's not about a song/songs which are going to be in the "main" soundtrack/score of the film - it's about background music, songs/tunes/themes, which probably will never be played for more than 10 secs...
Let's go back to this song:
Very good...I will check out your other things here - I'm curious!

I like potatoes therefore obviously like Vonnegut Dollhouse, those who don't enjoy putting their hands into cheese shredders, or bleeding onto french fries are likely to not understand the extent of genious of this band, Chris Cantrell plays guitar like it was an extension of his own slong constantly nutting through every cord. You guys make me giggle like a promiscuous pre-teen. kthnx
