Yes, the beginning is a bit Genesis - post Gabriel i might - with that kind of hypnotic
driving beat. And the vocals are really nicely done and the piano is cool.
But.
I will admit it is something that I would file under "guilty pleasure"

the line, " there'e a cloud over my shoulder, but I'm not worried about the rain" is very deep and sets up the, " you don't know me, no. Well, it's shame." the hook is definately catching, like I was on an Indiana lake in August fishing for crappie - a la Jean Shephard, In God We Trust All Others Pay Cash.

To my tastes, that minor section is cool as a vamp, but isn't that strong to carry a verse melody. However, I really like the little double-strum of the guitar at the alternating sections. The vocal is emotional and direct. The real hook is the soaring chorus. It brought a similar feeling I find in the songs of U2.

There is a section where it gets a bit muddy when a bass starts soloing. It could be the mix, or the mastering.

Overall, a very good effort.

Very nice - I really dig it. And the chorus doesn't sound strained to me - it sounds like the singer is projecting the song lyrics.

Well done.

Ah I think this is much better, this song leaves an impression that stays. Gone is the one-way vocals too, they sound good here! Intro and the verses sound very much like "There there" so I guess the originality isn't enormous here, but I still like it. It manages to be very atmospheric yet sounding just as solid as the first song. I like the more "pure" vocals and when you step into the chorus the powerful departure works well. You show more personality in this song, as a singer. The chorus also makes me remember something about singers who reach the limit of their singing ;). The tail end of the chorus does sound like a strain, but honestly I think it works pretty well as it sounds. I like how it moves from the simple "shaame" melody into an edgier final part of the chorus.
I can get into the departure that the chorus becomes after the verse, though I am with qualcomm in that they could be tied together to make it better.
Good job!

the verse chords remind me of a lesser known zeppelin song, "The Battle of Achilles" or somesuch, just played slower.

Is it my subwoofer or is the floor tom a bit overwhelming? I'm just curious, because I don't know what my speakers are doing half the time.

love the drums, tribal vibe upon intro... nice vocals/lyrics... those keyboards sound familiar after the shame chorus... other elements of the song are familiar, but again, like with the last song, i can't place them (1:13 change) - shame chorus at 1:29... the effect is that the song is immediately recognizable/appreciable and you sound like a band i should know. if this was on the radio no one would blink. i think it could be more radio ready if it wasn't so tribal and took more advantage of the catchy shame chorus, but i dig the tribal thing. your sound as a band is very clean and radio ready. by the end of the song i think i know this song, or at least i should. congrats...
