ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

Melee Beats - I would just like to say that I was Melee until that stupid emo band decided to take my name. Jerks.

"As the cringingly-named Melee Beats, fledgling Sacramento-based producer Nic Bertino makes French house from his American bedroom. There's good reason that sounds like a bad idea, but the 20-year-old Bertino's (junior) boyish vocals and considerable maximalist production chops say otherwise." -Pitchfork Media

This would be great to hear at a club. Danceable and cool. I like the sluggish beat, and the lyrics totally capture the essence of what 80's loving club kids dig in dance music.

The recording and sound is good. But I would never listen to this. really.
The keys feel like their o-d'ing on ecstasy. the beat is maniacal.

This one is produced really well and the vocal is perfectly laid on there, the bass is new sounding, pumps like a heartbeat and is cool. I like the keys and the sounds, overall very impressive.

That said, I'm not a big fan of the 80's comeback movement, so this is not my speed for sure. I could picture hearing this when I was a kid in 1982, watching MTv when they still had the guy in the space suit next to the flag. This also reminds me strongly of Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction".

1. Technical ability
2. Good tone choice
3. Playing the right part for the song
4. Feeling
5. Originality

This gets:

1) 5 (Playing is super)
2) 5 (Tones are great)
3) 3 (I wanted a solid hook somewhere, but didn't get it)
4) 4 (The vibe is really 80's and accomplishes it well)
5) 2 (This is obviously very 80's and borrows a lot from that)

Overall: 3.8

I think the vocals are a little low and the bassy phaser thingy is a little loud or maybe just a little annoying. The little cascading electrical noises are very well done, as is the beat, but the song does suffer from monotony, and should evolve a little more. That's my 2 cents.

can you tell I'm not a club goer ? LOL

the last time I was at a club, White Lines was playing !

I meant to say it sounds pretty good, but I am (obviously ) not a dance music expert !

this is raver music for sure but I like it, it's mixed pretty well, and it bops along

I don;'t know enough about this type of music to rate it, really, but it's not terrible...

this was cool until 1:38 then i wanted to hear something else

the volume of the vocals is fine

the release time of the compressor is not fine, the track has this annoying pumping sound to it that should at least be in time with the song

this is pretty cool, it's a great beat, it's fun, i could dance to this, it got my wife to dance (she loves to dance), which is always a turn on (you get stars for that), but you lost her when you took it up an octave or something... she walked away (you lost 1/2 star for that)...

The song is decent, but the vocals are too quiet and sound off-key in parts.

Good vocals, good groove. I would have given a higher score if there was a hook or a change to match the intensity of the song and maybe take it to a different/higher place. All in all, a good dance track.

If I was in the middle of a dance floor in a club with some techno-loving incredibly sexy woman I might like it enough to tell her it was "cool" just to get in her pants. 3 stars for studio work, but there is no musical destination to this. Best wishes.
