There's strong stuff here, but it needs to go somewhere. Gets old fast. You also need to hire a drummer.

This sounds like some pretty standard neo-soul, its no Freeky Deek. I just really think you guys have the potential to rise above the norm.

It's not really bout booze per se, but if you've ever heard I can't leave you alone by Jodeci or D'angelo's Brown Sugar, it is an play on the intoxicating feeling of a woman's sweet zone, and my own personal passtime of going to look at other chicks(usually a bar, and I only said look) when my wife is seriously pissin me off..LOL also look for John Lee Hooker's 1 bourbon,1scotch,1beer...
That's why the lyric toward the end is;
Mr. bartender, I need something strong
I finnin' to sit here all night long
Me and my baby had alittle fallin out
Now i wanna sit here sippin on this Yak, starin at a big ol back(fat ass!)
That's the true thug passion...

BEFORE MAKING COMMENTS ON WHERE YOU THOUGHT WE WERE GOING, HOW ABOUT READING THE SONG'S COMMENTS/INFO...IT MAY CLEAR IT UP FOR.. F CONVENTION AND PROTOOLS...I KEEPS IT GRITTY AND UNPOLISHED PURPOSELY AND IT'S STILL MORE POLISHED THAN ALOT..ALOT OF STUFF...I DON'T EVEN SAY A LINE LIKE THAT IN THIS SONG MR. MICHELOMEO..PASS ME SOME OF WHAT YOU SMOKIN!
PLUS..NONE OF WHAT I SAY IN THIS SONG IS LITERAL..CAN ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT A TRUE THUG'S PASSION IS..IF YOUR NOT A "THUG"( IAM NEITHER BUT I GREW UP AROUND PLENTY) THAT'S OK CAUSE THE ANSWER IS THE SAME AS WHAT'S A MAN'S#1 PASSION AND PRIMAL,INSTINCTUAL, BASIC LUST? BUT IT'S COVERT, FEEL ME...

This really sounds like a commercial. Non-generic backgroung music should be used from now on. I don't mind the literal lyrics, that can be done quite well (Barry White and that guys that sing with R Kelly) but there needs to be more memorable presentation for "she took me by the hand and led me into the bedroom. I said oh my gawd woman I'm gonna give it to you" etc. And the instrumental aspect was just not given enough attention.

Lyrics I prefer more abstract than literal. but hey...

I dig all the comments positive or negative. We wanted to make a cool out/ not so serious joint. The bass is deep and the mix is a little off,but overall I wanted to test it on the peeps. I don't give a (*&^%) about convention or normal or the box most cats are in..also, i know exactly where the song came from and was turned onto John Lee hooker a while ago. Lighten up peeps, but I like sparking emotion, pos or neg from people... so cool. I'll put up more tracks soon..if anyone wants a copy of our 5 song promo cd, drop me an email...Things are heating up for us so stay tuned...plus I'm feelin some of the artists onn here..I say DO YOU baby..keep it poppin'..as far as sword..yes I am a ninja and I keep a bag of vocal tricks I have'nt even cracked open yet..STAY TUNED

Nice R&B simplistic tune. Decent bass and instrumentation. Vocals work. One bourbon, one scotch, one beer; totally unoriginal. I know rap and R&B thrive on using other people's material, but this is blatant. George Thourogood would be upset. 2.5 for musical ability.

SOI, your lyrics don't do a thing for me, but I could listen to ya sing the phone book, primos!

By the way, 'One bourbon..." was originated by one John Lee Hooker. Look him up.

Every music act should write a drinking song for their repertoire. It's good for business. For all you Alize and Henny drinkers out there, another anthem.

Always fine singing and guitar, but that drum track felt kinda same-y. Too much compression? A loop?

Bring us more.

I was completely won over by the Freek last week - I dig your voice and your whole sound in general works. But, in this song, the backup vocals distracted me and the lyrics felt amateur.

Cool song. Good choice Red Fizz. The low end is a bit much for my crappy little computer speakers, so a ding for that. But everything else is very cool and smooth. Great guitar riffs at the end as well. We think it would be a great song for a movie.

I love the reference to George Thorogood! (One bourbon, one scotch, one beer) I don't think the lyrics need any work; it's not like you're trying to stop the spread of fascism or anything. Very cool. Also, I dig the sword in the photo. Are you a ninja? Ninjas are cool. They cut people's heads off and don't even give a crap. And Ninjas wail real hard on their guitars, just like this song.

This song is dedicated to the great blues legends, their stories and struggles and their effect on us as musicians.
Thug passion is also a drink in many hoods where I'm from that's made of Hennesy cognac and Red Alize also a Cognac

This song is also based on a asong by the great John Lee Hooker called 1 Bourbon, 1 Scotch, 1 Beer
