Quit cliche lyrically! Overall sound is interesting, but song is weak.
Would benefit with a tastier bass player, that bass lick is cool but can be played better.

Thanks Jam...I really value your opinion...i have read your postings and it is clear to me you know your stuff.
i agree the keys are way too out front, and am going to remix it and fix the b/g vocals as well.

This doesn't sound like biker rock to me, not "John Kay" enough! I would really like this if it wasn't for the keyboard. Nice heavy guitar, good proto-metal vocals, then the organ comes in and cheezes it up. Yes, the mix need a lot of work all around. Turn the organ way down bring the drums, bass, and guitar up.

if you open the basement door you'll realize the 70's are over and you need to walk around and clear out the smoke and bongwater

long live stoner biker rock though!

Opening a song with "unsustainable consumerism philosophy" is a bit heavy-handed for my tastes. It's too direct, and if there is a message there, that kind of language isn't going to persuade anyone who doesn't already agree with it. I'm not sure I fully get the apple tree metaphor, so maybe it's good that you point out that I am the apple tree in the scenario. All of this may be academic, however, because in the end, I'm not quite sure what you're driving at. The music didn't really push me in one direction or the other; in fact, I feel that the music and the message are fatally separate.

First off...let me say you have to be really good or really original to survive a review in this genre from me. I don't like metal in any of it's pre-90's forms.

I have to seriously bash this one. The weird samples are reminiscent of the worst metal of this genre, the keyboard tones are the kind that Ozzie used in his 80's solo stuff...just damn cheesy (they remind me of the Spinal Tap keys). The vocals are also really poor (strained), I don't like the delivery and the lyrics are on the level with Dio. The doubled parts are really bad (when several voices sing "apple tree").

The leads show ability but just can't save this mess. I'm sorry, just bad metal.

1. Technical ability
2. Good tone choice
3. Playing the right part for the song
4. Feeling
5. Originality

This gets:

1) 1 (You get one star for the leads)
2) 0 (The bass tone is horrible, drums non-existent and keys laughable)
3) 1 (Keys and samples make this even worse than the arrangement already is)
4) 0 (Lacks even the bravado and zeal of 80's hair metal, at least the adrenalin)
5) 0 (You have to get up pretty early in the morning to do something new in metal)

Overall: .4

thx for the constructive criticsm....

The art work has no relevance to the song...

yes that is thunder you hear at 2:30...

i agree the synth was too loud in the mix and covered up our guitarist too much.

thanks guys..great feedback

Personally I would change the mixing. The vocals seem a little bit loud compared to the rest of the mix. If the drums were a bit louder it would have a bit more oomph. Also, some of the tones sound-- in lack of a better term -- cheesy. However, both those complaints are things that often accompany this genre and it could just be that I'm just not a huge fan. Is the cracking over the solo (around 2:30) supposed to be lightning? Or maybe a bough breaking? It's a little too 1980's for me.

What relevance does the Anime artwork have with your music? Just to look cool? im curious.
I didn't find anything i could really sink my teeth into (so to speak) on this track.
The vocalist seems to be hitting his tones for the most part, i personally feel the said tones are just something that is hard to get into, they're not very "welcoming" to the ears. Some of the semi digital stuff in here sounds a little out of place. I mean, the timing seems on, i guess mabye the voice, and then the synth stuff just didn't trigger in my head, as going together.
All in all there isn't a whole lot WRONG with this track, musically, everything seems done right, tracked well, etc.
I just think this is really more than anything one of those "Aquired Taste" bands, kinda like Type O Negative, Or KMFDM. Not to say you sound like them, but with those bands, comes a very distinct fanbase, it's not the kind of thing that really appeals to all ears.

The recording quality seems to be pretty good. Song writing is good. The guitar solos are pretty rippin. I don't think you should have stomped all over them with sound efex. All in all the song just kinda lays there and dosen't go any place. Sorta reminds me of a cross between Inogadadavida and that German band that had commercial success with that song do osh nished or what ever it was. Is there anyone in the band named Dick?

talented or skillful use of instruments and voice, but unmoving to me, the lyrics aren't doing anything for me, the conceptual idea has merit, but i can't see listening to this beyond 2 minutes despite the playing ability (my personal opinion)...
