ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

quaint. I like this.
It has a core to it, a sense of passion. This is good.
You know you've done well when you've shut me up.

Awesome song. I like the female vocalist towards the end, also. Except "favorite place to drown" ? is that like "funny irony"??? too cliche don't use "drown". Overall a great song that I would play for children in the sunshine.

How did this end up on the second stage? Great lyrics. Very sincere and sweet vocal performances. The pitchy piano adds to the charm. Nice atmosphere in the mix. I am in my happy place.

I absolutely loved the beginning of the song. But layering goes out of control at around 1:00.

The chords are wonderful at the beginning of the song, and the addition of the xylophone gives it a really childish feel.

I like the piano and strings as well, but the backing vocals really take away from it. I have to admit, the melody still works, but if I were you, I'd keep it simple.

The simplicity has such a wonderful feeling to it.

boygenius, if you miss scantily glad girls in the winter, come take a trip down to south beach... 24/7 365... just make sure if you drive, that you can look to the left and right and still drive in a straight line... hmm, sounds like a song...

I totally agree with aaron on this one. It IS genius and brilliant and colorful and everything I liked about Pet Sounds but made new. I also agree that at around 1:00 when the band came in I felt that it bullied the vocals. It is also invoking a sad emotion for me now cuz it's September and it's summer's last call. This weekend I HAD to go to the zoo because I knew this was probably one of, like, two weekends I was gonna have to enjoy sun and flowers and girls all scantily clad before leaves gave in and changed colors and the weather turned chilly, not that D.C. ever really gets that cold it's just my mind changes to winter mode. And so I like it for that as well. Thank you for posting.

this is genius, or brilliant, or bordering on it at least... the early part of the song, i was in love with this... the lyrics are great, the only thing that detracted from it, for me, was the band arrangement beginning around a minute... the repeat chorus at 1:15 took it down a notch for me as well, and then the instrumental part, it was nice, it made sense, conventionally, but it took away some of the lovely quality of the song/melody... i love having the kid voice sing... i think the middle part/band arrangement is what would keep me from listening to it more than a couple times, despite loving it... now that you've done this version, i'd do a stripped down version, unless you think i'm an idiot, or you just don't agree, or you just plain refuse to change it, then ignore this... ;). nice job.
