Animal Tropical - Fusing the wry and witty songcraft perfected by Steely Dan with tropicalia, rock, Animal Tropical's sound is super-danceable and, for all its quirkiness, goes over big with booty shakers of all colors, creed, and class.

i'm telling you... cuervo. i think it's a good recording in that you can hear every noodley little nuance of every instument and voice. i don't know that i care for that aspect all that much. it's like the old thing about the titillation coming from what you don't see rather than what you do. and from cuervo. but i like these guys, they are kickass musicians and they reminded me of leon russell and younger days for me so i shall throw some stars on the pile.

I monitor on Mackie 824's and a set of beyerdynamic DT770's. I believe these are verifiably quality sources. I can't vouch for my hearing. I hear what I hear. I suspect One Day at a Time comparisons are more a consequence of the instrumentation and the song itself. I still think that this has a nice balanced, clear sound from top to bottom. I would lend my 45 year old ears to you if I could. Maybe ignorance is bliss in my case.

I think your hearing's fine jamsmith. I like the song but it sounds like it was recorded in the same studio they recorded the theme song for One Day At A Time.

I need to get whatever IrREGULAR ELEPHAnT is listening on. This track sounds like someone has stuffed cotton in my Sony over-ear headphones.

I think a remix and a little air might put Bratty over the top.

This is pretty good track and played well. One comment: This sounds like it was recorded in low budget studio about 30 years ago. Not bad production, just not up to the quality that even a modest project studio gets these days. The vocal are little rough, but they have personality.

I suggest a remix.

Vying for first in my top favs from this site (guess who else), I was almost afraid to listen for fear that I might be diappointed. I was not. I can think of no other (real) band that I would like to see live as much as this'n. Their vids are waaay over the top. Its a good day on the Fizz.

also reminds me of some great extended tv-theme song from the 70s, gettin you all pumped up to watch the show. Lit bit of Good Times maybe, I dunno.

yeah I kinda dig this. Very J-Geilsy. Who rocks. Love the organ, bass and drums. Like the piano. Like the guitar, but I want another guitar on the song doing something chunkier. At first I thought the singer was weak but by the end he sounds like his life depended on it, so that was great. Love how the song builds.

Only think I don't like are the horns. Here they remind me of The Kinks when they just let Ray do whatever the hell he wanted, for better or worse.

Not badly done at all, but something about this band is just really unappealing to me. I think it's for that reason Nova mentioned, it just sounds like something you'd hear in a bar, or at the fair. Not to say these guys arent #@&%!ing awesome musicians, becuase they are, this just isn't really my cup o tea, but i do respect these guys a lot, so with that said i wont let my stars be involved in this, i think they have a really good following here among some redfizzers, and well deserved.

fun, cool song! great album song from a great band, as opposed to a single release, those horns sound familiar, though, sly and the family stone, Everyday People i think...

I can't get over the fact this reminds me of music you would hear at the fair. I hate the fair.

Blatant happiness is overrated.

The vocal on this could use some help on the high parts...sounds like you are barely makin it there.

Withold rating, I don't dig so much I can't be objective. And this is not badly done.

i'm interested in what sir elephant has to say about this one. i like it better than the very last one but there's still something that isn't taking it over the top for me. it might be a dynamic thing. it's like when you're at an event where there are so many things going on so you're looking all around, trying not to miss anything but still come away frustrated and unsatisfied. i do like the leon russell-ness of it though.
