Vacuum Hack - Four-tracked, booze-soaked, semi-spontaneous home recordings under the tenets:
1) If you have nothing good to say, write and record music.
2) If you aren't aren't trying.

Pretty much all Vacuum Hack stuff is recorded within minutes of it being written. Probably not the best policy, but what can I say....I bore easily.

I'm the first to acknowledge that my 'music' isn't for everyone. Not even for many. Or several. If you find yourself to be one of the few sick, twisted, unfortunate souls that actually digs what I help!!! -xo

Usually I'm all for the short intro, but this one builds nicely. And yep, the acoustic is nice and sweet and crisp and rich. Like a good Gala or Fuji apple.

on multiple listens I got used to the singers voice. I rarely listen listen to lyrics, I get distracted easily. Cause music does that--you start listening and then something in the song makes you think of something else. Anyway, what I was gonna say was, since I don't listen listen to lyrics, the vocals have to hit me with more feeling than clarity, and you do that well.

I don't know if I'd do anything with the vocal levels. I don't think vocals always have to be way above everything else, or even especially all that clear. In this song he sounds real, like some real guy pissed off at his wife. He's grumbly. At first I thought, oh that's sweet, he wants his wife home. But now I'm actually a little scared for her. Honey, if you're out there, I recommend you DON'T come home.

I like the accordion, great touch. Of course you can hear all sorts of production possibilities with this one, but I bet 10 different producers would do 10 different things.

I like the electric when it comes in.

I was ready to jump on this song for being too long but it's never boring. I wouldn't trim a thing.

Still, I don't love it, not sure why.

I'd also say leave i EXACTLY like it is. So many tunes get hacked
and edited and protooled to death with all these 'producers' trying to
create the perfect three minute tune, that we've all lost touch with
what is good anymore. Thanks again for a great great tune recorded
well (singmetofire- yes, THE way to record an acoustic and aaronlife-
yes, this song has IT).

this is the first song I've actually relistened to here on
redfizz, and one that I've forwarded an email to a
few friends about. It's not often that a tune this
powerful comes around, lacking all the trendy
hipster fads that come around with the 'new scene,'
it exists on it own powerful true goodness and the
sentimental message is clear and provocative as
it can mean many different things to many different
people. Hells, I was even thinking about asking
VACUUM HACKS if I could cover this song on
an acoustic gig sometime! I am inspired an have
looked back to my earlier songs based on hearing
this song. It has all the fundamental aspects of
a great song in it; nice guitar work, simple and
effective lyrics, an original voice to set the lyrical
content into motion, and the driving four chord
acoustic which is alive enough to carry on throughout
the entire song. Very nice work!

i hate the guitar in this song. really hate it. it is boring, bland and makes this song sound more generic than it probably is. don't like ur usage of vocals either. think your voice is probably good, but isn't interesting at all in this song the volume mite have something to do with that but also change it up once in awhile. has TONS of room for improvement.

yeah, i'd have liked the vocals a little higher in the mix. the recording levels were on the money so you could have probably brought them up without them getting overdriven. so much for the technocrap. guitar playing was very nice all the way around. you wrote and played what you wanted so no reason to second guess... but if you were to further develop this tune, you might want to consider a middle eight or some other bridgey part just for the sake of variety, color, change, whatever.and maybe a bass part. or brushy drums. but not necessarily both. unless you wanted to. the guitars carry it, nonetheless.

Nice acoustic guitar playing. Its a sad song and a bit repetitious, but so is the syndrome involved in the lyrics. The vocals could be turned up a bit, a little hard to hear. Good job overall.

Ok i like this. It's nice. I like how they took down the vocal layers, id mentioned something about that before with this band. Good on ya fellas! This one is nice. It has a nice quality to it.

it has "IT"... it's great... it is familiar, and repetitious, and the vocals need work, mostly in the mix, they're too muffled, but it comes across as entirely genuine, and it all works for it, not against it, it's highly memorable, it's a hit.
