Yep Ithaca NY. My family and I lived there

they were the worst of times...'

This might impress me in a live setting. You get three stars for not making me listen to a socks-like creation.

but I am definitely going to record my next
song with dinosaur noises AND japanese people

green day and nirvana's lovechild, nothing wrong with that
all in 3/4 timing, I'd change the progressions on the bridges and tighten it up a bit
you do a cool thing with the sustain on the vocals, but you hold a lot of notes, I think that gets a little old, I'd change that up a bit on the phrasing end of things

how about some dinosaur noises? maybe some godzilla roars and some overdubs of japanese people screaming?

well its a good thing you love your 4track

I doubt anyone ever reads these comments,
but to those that do, this is an old favorite
4track recording of mine and I'm looking
to IMPROVE on it to bring it more up to
date as the original was recorded in the
late 90's. Just looking for some feedback
on any improvements you might think of
(excluding "start over!").

you know its not grungey and its perfect and I love the guitar tones and the tone and the lyrics fit perfectly, I am offended by the very insinuation of the grunge word being brought to the attention of my good friends tune.

TOP pricks: let's band together and nominate this as a perfect example of a song that rocks and should be featured if we weren't all neil diamond soft rock loving has beens that couldnt tune an instrument or stay in beat to save our lives

I actually think this song should be slower. You can leave the fuzzy guitars but take out the chug chug. Make it dark and smooth. Use Shine On You Crazy Diamond as a template for pace and mood.

Nirvana! That's the song. The opening two chords to this are the same. Not that Nirvana owns them, but the effects on the guitar, plus your strum pattern, really make me think of that song.

But I do like the core of what you have here.

yeah, unfortunately the chicanery is present

ok, we'll keep the grungey guitar, but get it a better tone, mix it in deep with a doubled acoustic and a ricky 12.

why does this have to be grunge just cause it has grungy guitar? Can grungy guitar never be used again?

dude, i'd take this and drop all the grungeyness, clean it up, bring up the the tempo and make a pop tune out of it. de-heavy it and make it light and fluffy. handclaps, snappy backing vocals, hooky chorus. make it fun instead of bludgeon theatre.

this reminds me of something, I can't think what. The opening chords are really familiar.

What's weird is I also hear in the opening chords a trace of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".

I like your voice. I kinda like this.

The intro had me anticipating a move in of two directions-- closer to Marcy Playground or closer to Fuel. I guess you went the latter route and threw in some Andrew McMahon.

Ithaca Dinosaurs

All that you give me
is left to the sea
All that you leave me
has drowned within me

Now I'm wandering
is there anywhere to sleep
Now I am finding
It's all up to me

Stickered and stretchered
the pocketbook spree
So good in due time
the Manderin fee

Now I'll feeling
there is everywhere to sleep
how we are laughing
in what we believe

Twisted and tethered
a blind man sings
Wasted and blistered
by too many things

And he is drowning
in what he believes
He is surrounding
everything he sees
He is demanding
the world gives his way
He's not understanding
time slips away
