Justin Sandlin - Don't open your mouth unless you have something good to say.

I am not a record buyer...I am a crook!

I'm a genius and you're stupid!!!!

Just kidding, of course. I don't think anyone is that much better than anyone else.

Not random, rather an IrREGULAR comment. I was browsing around my own iTune library and I stumbled across a cover I did of your song, Thoughts. I remembered being a fan of your stuff and came back to da fizz to listen to a few. Too bad fizz is dead, still there is a vast library of amateur music here.

I like the way you bend the vocals, have that scream coming up from the background. Good lyrics, songwriting....Keep it up!

they might not be the clearest vocals ever but I wouldn't say they're incoherent. I went back and read the lyrics after listening a couple times, everything I read pretty much matched what I was hearing. No "I'm a pool hall ace" or "there's a bathroom on the right" misheard lyrics on this one.

what do you think lacks focus, the music or the lyrics? The music certainly has structure to it. The lyrics feel like they're just a bunch of losely tied thoughts the singer was thinking. Nothing wrong with that. Not every song's a story.

love the sounds of the drums.

What's incoherent about it?

Maybe the song is about incoherency?

This isn't bad, by any means. It shows a #@&%! ton of promise. There are some times when you are singing off key, and it gets a bit mucky. There are also sometimes i think you may force the lyrics. Other than that this is a good tune, shows promise.

This is the third J sandlin track I've heard, and I'm really starting to love the guy's voice... it's very distinct.. this song isn't my favourite of his, but it's still quality.

I love the reverby sustained YEAHHHHH. You sound just like Eric Carmen from the Raspberries when you do that.

I think I like this song a lot. I want to star this higher but some production is holding it back. The unevenness of the lead vocals for one. But I do love those background vocals. Eric Carmen, and also very Moody Bluesy.

The intro is nicely paced. Normally I'd want you to get on with it already but the textures are so nice I don't care.

So, I like this in the order of about 4.5, but I'll give it a 3.5 for now. Clean it up and you'll get the extra point.

Yeah, I have no idea what you're singing about but I don't care. It all has a nice, rich, slightly down quality to it.

I really like the piano texture at the beginning, when the acoustic comes in, it's not really in tune with the piano. I also like the background vocals a lot. The vocals are pretty out front, I'd like to hear more of the rhythm tracks in the mix---especially the drums. The brige and the breakdown are very nice, it starts to take the song somewhere special, but then just goes back to the same thing. You should develop that more. The production isn't the best, but you do some nice things with what you have here.

This song iis half synth and half real. The vocals are real, the acoustic guitar is real, and the bass is the guitar being altered since I don't have a real bass.

The drums are soundclips of real drums. To get the piano sound, I took two different piano tones and panned them to left and right.

As for the lyrics, they're just a rant about this and that. I was sitting at a piano one day and all my thoughts at the time got trapped in a piano riff.

yeah. See? I do what I'm told.

The lyrics are interesting if not completely understandable. They work better as imagery rather than actually providing a source to empathize with.

There are some neat reverb drenched sounds in here. The whole thing has a very arty feel. There are very small bits of distortion on a few occasions, mostly seeming to come from the bass. I do wish the bass was panned down the middle instead to the left. But then it does provide room for the various ambient effects. The vocal harmonies are nice as well as the breakdown to the single note piano line. If this is a real piano then I hate you for the effort it took to record. And it is impecably in tune. If it is just a keyboard then you have a better piano sound than I. The whole thing is very easy to listen to and grows on me with multiple listens. This is a very nice effort. I look forward for more like this.

my favorite of your songs yet
This piano riff came to me one day while sitting at this huge grand piano in the entrance of the ballroom hall in the student center at the University of Kentucky inside Lexington on South Limestone street, which is next to where I used to live in Holmes Hall at the intersection of Avenue of Champions and South Limestone. From that, I designed the rest of the song.

The song has multiple meanings for me. It's about philosophy, mistakes, progress and state of being. I couldn't get the right sound for my vocals after many tries so I just went with what I could. The scream was inspired by the vocalist of Filter (listen to the last 30 seconds of Miss Blue on Title of Record.)

Here are the lyrics :

You are not free
You are what they ask you to be
You are what they want you to be

I am not free
I am what I have to be
I am what I will to be

Isn't it silly?
Going from A to Z
Switching from A to D

Was it stupidity?
Even if I felt empty
I wasn't in reality

Life's just a blinded walk
It's the curse of being an animal
Life's only jibber talk
It's the chatter coming from a mammal

Say yeah, Yeah!

I am crazy
I don't know what I should do
I think I belong in a zoo

You are ugly
You feel like a whipping post
The one who's without the most

Seeing what isn't there
Always having too much care

Breaking it all down again
Would that be another sin?

Sometimes I hope that I might escape reason

Life's just a blinded walk
It's the curse of being an animal
Life's only jibber talk
It's the chatter coming from a mammal

Say yeah, yeah!
Say yeah, yeah!
Say yeah..........yeah.
