Mac, we are in the process of going back into the studio with 20 songs, you will probably only see 12 - 13 of them though. It will take some time, but once it's done, it will be effing sweet.

i have to add :
why are people in here just criticising? but not the song, in fact you critcice the whole genre. if you really mean the song then just write its to much screaming or something else like that. youre just here to make bands feeling band and frustrating about their own work, which is payed by their own

guys like you criticece their own favourite bands for sure, if their trying something new, and if the make their own style you say they stucked
guys like you are never satisfied and you make me freaking out

for those of you who thinks im a child, im 19 years old, maybe not the oldest man on the world, but better than 9 ;)

one of my fav quotes is from al Jorgensen

lol no problem unk.

I think i get hated on a lot becuase of Spite votes.
Also, people think just becuase we scream, and sing, we're automaticaly a "screamo" band.

Just like any other genre, there are many elements to the composition, they can all vary. If i was a closed minded complete #@&%!ing idiot, i would make a claim like
"Oh my GOD, the BEATLES, it sounds just like the #@&%!ing beach boys"

Well, everyone would know im full of #@&%!, becuase everyone knows that genre, and those bands, and everyone knows it's different, any why. Becuase it's something we've all paid attention to.

But what if i'd never heard of the beatles? or the beach boys? the yardbirds, etc. Well, then i'd be making uneducated, ignorant comments about something that i didn't understand.

You don't hate Eric #@&%!ing Clapton becuase Bob Seager plays the same kind of songs, do you? (and we all know everyone hates bob seager, in defense some hate clapton also, but im just making broad examples here)

If i go on much longer i'll start to not make sense, even more than i don't now. but i hope you get my point.

Is it not funny that bands are trying so hard to be the "next big thing" and trying to be something diferent that they for why they are doing. the best thing about Alexic is that they do not dress up to play shows, they are the same people on stage as they are on stage, and unlike most bands out there Alexic pulls it off very well live. most of the "Critics" on this page are so bent up on trying to say "this bands sounds like another band" that they actuly forget to listen to the song, and take it for what it is. I think that may be way more artistically expressive, more in depth, i mean. Who REALLY wants to actually create something? it's so much easier to just do it in like 40 mins on a program. Had to give a yay for the posting of the lyrics. Once I had them to look at, the "screams" made sense and I could go about my way...And enjoy the song for what it is. A $#@!!-kicking piece that rocks! And I happen to love some singers whose unique take on screaming sets them apart. James Brown, J. Joplin, S.Tyler, K.Cobain, and C.Love come to mind. I wouldn't worry about the "genre" or not "genre" thing at all--Your sound is sure to mature and evolve with time anyway. The dedication you have to bettering your craft shows in this song. I only wish for more concrete imagery to better fit the musical vibe, although there are some really cool lyrical things going on here. Quite fittingly featured. Nice work on the vox; You sang your guts out! A work of art...

The tortured one could be the poster child for primal scream therapy! I worry about his vocal chords. Another well done piece from a band whose collective voice screams for the 21st century.

Wait until tomorrow's feature Yo, it'll go back downhill then :) And I know they aren't doing anything new with screaming, but as my brother just put it, they make it listenable to the person who may not like this sort of thing, which isn't normally accomplished.

Screaming as a talent is highly underated. If you haven't tried to do it for an extended period, its not as easy as you think. If the screamer and the "singer" is one and the same that is a very impressive effort!

Keep getting stuck at 3:20? But if that is all that is new 4;19 is a touch long. Also if you are spending money for a studio, or even if you are not, get a real violin player fo this track....(e.g Bush) I have never liked those Arco String sounds.

IMHO a real impressive string of Fizzy Features since that wanna be avant garde thing. I think this site is (gasp) maturing?!

Actually enjoy the screaming a bit, mixes it up a bit, takes it a bit out of the stereotype of the genre (even though I think redfizzers tend not to be a scream liking crowd)....anyhow, like the sound, agree on the other version you talk about, would love to hear the version with the levels on the strings and backing instrumentation a bit higher. Always a fan of more keys and such, would add a bit of variety to the guitar driven sound...Otherwise, I think the sound is fab., definetly at the top of your game for this genre and for the radio.

very cool stuff. it's good to finally see some hard rockin
material featured here. Excellent production. Are you
working on this track yourself or is it a professionally
produced track? Nice drum sound. I'd personally like
hear a beefier kick drum. The DI(?) on the acoustic
guitar seems a bit sterile, but diesn't seem to need
too much tampering with since it salt and peppers
the track here and there. Very enjoyable song ready
for mass marketing to the masses! Whatever you
do with it, I'm glad to see some good musicianship
and writing with well administered production on this

A very good production. You definitely have talent as a songwriter. BUt I see the song as extremely genre-specific. Alot of bands have this sound these days. If that doesn't bother you then don't be put off by my comment. I just don't find it unique. And I think you have a good enough voice not to scream. I know the screaming vs singing thing has been touched on before but I am not a fan of the screaming. Just not my bag baby. But keep up the good work.

The first time I tried listening, your screaming re-started my computer somehow. Also, I could feel my spleen tingle in fear of imminent consumption. I'm impressed with the detail of the guys are taking some leaping bounds, no doubt. Way to go man...and keep screaming until your good and ready to have that throat transplant...As the Chief Smiles say "Don't let anyone monkey with your swing". Sage advice. My gut tells me this is ready for mass consumption...and your guttural screaming suggests another breakfast of glass shards is on the menu.

well there's actually synth, cello, and violin in this, but in this version they aren't turned up enough to really notice. We have another version that we just got done with, and those are all up more, and we added singing to the screaming in the beginning, just like it is in the bridge near the middle with the acoustic again. Anyhow, thank you, very much.

thank you kindley tj, it's something we are aware of, and we try to put a new kind of spin on it. It's not like we set out to go "ok this band screams and sings, so we have to also"

I personally am very heavily influenced by a lot of metal/hardcore stuff, #@&%! if it was up to me i'd scream all the time, but it's a democracy, ya know. Anyhow, i LOVE me some Pantera, Hatebreed, As I lay dying, lamb of god, unearth, etc.....So when i hear parts i feel are "heavy" or along those lines, i like to emphasize that feeling with the inspiration i've gotten from the crazy harder bands i like to listen to, with that said, my point is, i just try to add it, to throw a certian feeling of energy, not so much just becuase "oh, this is the formula for this kind of music, so we gotta do it"

ok, i've overexplained myself. THANKS so much for all the awesome comments, and feedback.

TheNationwide, Not to diss... but the screaming/singing dual vocals thing isn't super original. There's a lot of bands that do it... but these guys are definitely in the upper part of doing it well.

It's an overused phrase on redfizz, but this is truly awesome and would be even better - in my humble opinion - without the screaming. There is a fantastic voice in there - let it loose and kill the screaming. That said, it is a brilliant song - musically, dynamically and phonically. I'm very envious.

Different speakers so I can hear the vocals this time. I hear the screaming and think, "boy, what kids listen to these days." At the halfway point on, I'm truly diggin it and from 3:20 on ... glorious.
Very contermporary sounding. The sung vocals are great (I'm not qualified to judge screaming). But I do dig it. Maybe I'm not so old after all.

I like the epic feel in the beginning. The way how the acoustic guitar is so low it sounds more rhythmic than anything which is good. The screaming is pretty powerful. I'm not usually a fan of double-kick drum but it works well for the song. The guitar part around 1:35 is very cool... from 1:45-2 it gets a little too stale for my taste but then it gets interesting again. I'd throw something in that section though to keep it from getting too predictable. For some reason the part that ends around 3:20 reminds me of a slow motion fight scene in a movie... where the hero comes back.

I agree though the only major complaint I have is length. What about ending it around 3:40?

I would like to suggest leaving out "this genre" when commenting on Alexic's music though

I dont see that on anybody else's band. It's fun to tease our fav guy but this S*Tuff shreds man, it's really enough different to me distinctive, especially new stuff, and it's a little artsy too bro, nice keys there - is that a direct in? (wink)

your best vocal singing yet, methinks, really nice, this has a big sound, sounds famous, i'm still not a fan of the screaming, i think in parts it works, in parts where it's countering behind the vocals it was a distraction, but maybe fans of this genre will disagree, overall, it's a great job and i could hear this 'making it' as well...

I think one of the things I've enjoyed most about Alexic is their ability to use the screaming in their songs and keep it musical and keep it in line with the rest of the song. I think Counter Culture is a beautiful example of that. I also find that this song falls into that category, but maybe just goes a bit too long for me? I really wanted the song to end with the screaming of the lyric "But he's better off dead". I think that line screamed and repeated several times after the music falls off would have been the perfect ending to this song, but what it does now isn't bad, just not what I wanted. :)
The other thing I've always been impressed with Alexic is their musical ability and I think it shows through on this song as well. The arrangement is nice, they didn't go over the top and force a huge guitar solo on us, its well sung and enjoyable.
Its no secret that Alexic is my favorite band on RF, and I truly believe that if there's one band on here that could 'make it', these are the guys.

It is my pleasure to pop the star cherry on this song, as you know this style of scream/rock is not my prefered genre to listen to all the time, but for this style this song hits the mark. Musicially excellent, your vocal quality (minus the screaming parts) is absolutey great.

Vocals were way to burried in the mix on my speakers, I could barely make out the melody (My right speaker is, for some reason, louder than the left so maybe the vocal was panned?)
Anyway, based on the music, this hit some powerful high points were it was just rocking and better the sum of the parts, which, by themselves were very good. Clean recording too.

wow-the best Alexic yet. This is very much feature material.
This, is just one of those nights, two will come, one will leave alive.
I refuse to fall in flight, i refuse to fall

Just like poetry, so grand and elequent, when wrapped in the arms of trajedy:
The flowers that grew atop the framework, we're the most beautiful that i'd ever seen

(lie to me)
Don't wait for me
(lie to me)
I'm already there
(lie to me)
don't wait for me, i've made it clear

Garden grove would you sing to me
nothing short of a soliloquy
When i fight, im fighting to breathe
more than just another smoke screen

garden grove would you sing me out
we're watching it all fall down
i was never much for long goodbyes
it's just the science of the stipulations

(repeat, this is just one of those nights....)
(repeat chorus)

(screaming part)
This is how, i let go. More than watching the garden grow
left with the curse of the mirror, rehearsing this night, after night
Lord we loved him, but he's better off dead
Lord we were patient.......

What if i never knew how?
I'm much too far from the ground, now let me down, i want out, because I've never been quite so high.
I just want down, just let me out.
