Animal Tropical - Fusing the wry and witty songcraft perfected by Steely Dan with tropicalia, rock, Animal Tropical's sound is super-danceable and, for all its quirkiness, goes over big with booty shakers of all colors, creed, and class.

Someone say eccentric? I gotta check it out then

This is out of it, again I am hearing a song that sounds exactly like it's been lifted from a musical..dudes, go hit up John Waters right now...you'd fit his movies so perfectly!

eccentric is the right word, this is too eccentric for me, but if you like eccentric, i suppose it's perfect.

BLOWS MY MIND! So musical, so eccentric, really well arranged and performed. So dynamic too - particularly loved the part in the middle where a total wall of harmonies stopped to pave way for a single vocal with drums. If Freddie Mercury teamed up with a Philippino beach band to put on a broadway musical it might sound something like this.

I think it's awesome, love the bass walk and the vocal scapes? I wouldn't change anything, quite the cool clean mix too

Very good

there were moments, maybe what you'd call a chorus, for it did repeat, that i started to find a groove, but it was a bit like that brief moment when your car is going straight as you're all over the road on the snow/ice... really glad that babar likes this, cause there's lots of talent here, and i'm glad it's hitting home with someone, because out of this small fizz sampling, that means lots of other folks out there will likely dig it too, and my criticism or lack of appreciation won't matter.

i agree with the elephant about the harmonies. i'm not sure if it's a factor of there being too many notes, or too many ideas. on the other hand, i admire this song's dedication to weirdness. also, the groove needs to be more apparent. not sure if that's a question of your rhythm section tightening up, or just miking/mixing said section differently. maybe both. maybe i'm just a caveman.

For my head this is right on, but then I like lots of notes sometimes especially if they come in a swirling chaos of harmonic richness as this does.

yeah, just too densely packed for me to enjoy, but the individual parts are ok, and the harmonies are nice.

i agree with IE. too much going on, at least at first listen, which is what you get in the battle place here. hard to make it out.

At first, I thought this mess was completely chaotic and sounded like two separate songs at the same time. Then I realized that the other song was in fact playing along. When I shut it down, (wallah!) this had a much more singular feel. Still, It sounds overly dense, both rhythmically and harmonically. Some of the vocal harmonies were really hard to wrap my ears around. Overall, just too many notes. Remove a few and it may be better.

i think it was a good offering, won due to more originality. It is packed with a lot of notes and fast paced lyrics but i come to expect that from these guys.
