ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

Thank you all for you comments, input, and criticism of our song. Yes, there is no production, as with any of our recordings yet. I got the impression from loading our first song (which I deleted) that people want production value frist, and good songs second, and that was just my first impression from reading other comments on other songs. And we appraicte still knowing if we are close to the ball, or way off. This song was one of the better ones we have produced with next to no skill when its just two guys doing crappy home recordings.

Aaronlife', that "wood block sound" is actually a mistake I suspect from my computer when I encoded the wave file to mp3. I thought it fit fine, so left the mistake.

Unklespaz', we don’t take offense because we think the same. When we get into a studio to do real tracking. Then I will want more criticism on the execution. So don’t hesitate.

blowtorch" you’re right on the head of that nail. As we can easily gravitate towards a classic rock or jam band. But want to keep it as striped down as possible. As we are acoustic musicians first.

Mistaeyeball' we are not looking to emulate Neil young by any stretch. His is an influence however.

Paulmars' thanks, that’s what we were hoping for and couldn’t agree with you more.

The spirit, ideas, voices and melodies are really great. Need some major instrumental and production help to take this to the level it deserves.
Even Neil Young at his most primitive could really play the guitar.

Neil Young doesn't really even do this anymore...

i like the song and i agree that with more instrumentation DONE RIGHT it could be better. so many times the problem is that you add a rhythm section and they take the easy way out and miss the subtleties of the song, and run rough-shod over everything and turn a cool song into just-another-whatever. rant over : )

This is a pretty good song. I could imagine this song with bass and drums and it would become classic rock. It is a very good offering.

i dig it a lot. 'should have listened to my mom and dad became a lawyer instead', that's cool. ditto all of aaron's comments.

love that wood block sound or whatever that was at the start of the first solo, love the breathe "harmony" part, like the energy, and the home-spun recording quality. nice tune.

The mix sounds a little muddy and crowded in parts. The harmony vocals are a little loud compared to the main vox. I would also like to hear some sort of percussion to help propel the song along and add another dimension.

I should've known better than to upload a "single mic/track" song. So ive deleted "Things left for dead" and will redo it in the future. For the meantime, we completed this original "lew", for your listening pleasure or pain. My mixing skills are still very novice, but this song is a 5 track song. Any and all input is greatly appreaicated, as with the last. Thats why i am here and willing to share what we are doing. Thanks.

Lryics for lew:

Im being driven out of my mind, by a one eyed horse.
He told me everything will be fine, and i believed him of corase.
He is lost in a sea of cloudy dreams, thats hanging over my head.
Shoulda listened to mom and dad, became a lawyer instead.

*Breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth, breath.

Carpet bags, red, green, & blue, swept us through the air and away we flew.
Over the mountains not even were egales dare, a shinning sight, a big glorious pair.
Of resinious pipe dreams and days to come, misty nights streams were the antelope run.
They caught the golden leaf of bosimba, sitting atop of the morning star.

The grapes of wraith and the seeds we've sown, grew from beneath us and on outta of control. Sought by the wild fires in the night time sky, was her face smiling in the blink of an eye. Im still looking for them dreams to come, as we headed back up the drive, falling from the heavens when its all done. Were the payment ends at a quarter to five.
