That's nice, Sputnikov. I often wonder what my accent sounds like to Americans. Well if Bjork and Nico got away with it, why not me, I guess.

I'm really enjoying this. I've listened a bunch of times and have warmed up to this very different incarnation of yours. I've been listening to your older material a lot and feel like that's maybe more up my alley, but the more I listen the more I like this. Downloaded with gratitude.

Gotcha, I always thought it might be from the 80s with the style and the coloring, like an INXS phase. No offense bro

By the way, thank you all so much for the warm reception of this song, it means a lot to me because it's one of my 'new generation' songs, the ones I've been working on for the past two years.
Wow, really nice comments, Bratty, King, Aaron and Unkle.
And all of you who cared to listen and react backstage, thanks for those most kind words.

ya know, this is pretty unique. I love the sustain on some of the notes in there. Great stuff and wouldn't change a thing, some of the vocals and expression is great, good harmonies and inflections.

I appreciate that, firth. And I agree with your critical notes about the thinness of the sound at times. 'This version I recorded early last summer, and I had a much broader arrangement in mind to work on, but I got stuck in the middle of that. So I let it rest for a while. In any case about the cello, that's one of the sounds I got it mind. My neighbor is an improvisation jazz musician on cello and double bass. I've asked him to help me out with a couple of songs, but he's quite a character, so I have to wait for the appropriate moment to drag him in front of the mics. For now he's just helping me with my garden, once in a while, for which I'm grateful too.

I genuinely think it's a captivating song, Ruud. Not the sort of thing I'd personally seek out, but something I'd quite happily listen to of an evening with a glass of vin rouge and some good company. I love the accordion sounds and, as others have pointed out, the subtle keys - I also like the fact that sometimes it lets the listener have some space. On the critical side, some of the vocals grate a little - sounds like you're over reaching yourself at times and overall the sound is a little "thin", but a conventional bass line wouldn't suit this. I keep going on about cellos, but something like that - or maybe a fretless bass? Not sure for certain, but just something to give it a little more weight at times.

Again I stand by what I said earlier,my composition tutor may disagree with me here but not every song needs to be analyzed why a person likes it...I just do.

Mellow, calm and thoughtful...the harmonies are spot on,I'm finding it hard to type and listen no matter how many times I hit play cos my mind wanders....drifts really, every time I hear it...
Ahhh I give up critiquing this,I can't mate as I'm too busy enjoying it and not every song needs to be pulled to pieces so I'll enjoy this solely as a lovely piece of music.

of all your songs that have words, this is probably my favorite. actually, there are probably 2 or 3 others I like about the same, but this is right up there.

a couple of things about this remind me of the white album.
