Lay down the drums first. Even if you find a drummer who can keep you in time the drums should go first (or if everyone is on that day at the same time live and the drummer should have a click track).Your tracks would be 1000% better and more marketable. I could give the song a 4 or 4.5 if it was in the pocket or at least in some pocket. 3 for the song itself as is.

You're writing very catchy tunes, Mr. GoingtothePoolhouse. I like the guitar solo a lot too.

yeah, if i'm really pressed for time sometimes i do accoustic and vocals at the same time w/ different mics -- that usually gives me the best feel. i'm horrible with rhythm too, but my rhythm is bet on the guitar so that's what i lay down first.
metronome/clicks are good, i guess, but my end result when i record that way isn't much better and the process is a lot less fun.
thanks re the song.

so, you record the drums after the guitars? after the vocals? i used to do that when i had a drumset, and unless i played guitar to a metronome it was so easy to get slightly slower or faster accidentally that it made it almost impossible to keep up when i did the drum recording later. does anybody else get that or do I just have terrible natural rhythm?
anyway, this is a really well crafted pop song, with hooks in all the right places. the opening riff is kind of Who-like. i think it would sound cool if the vocals sounded more distant.

not until i recorded the drums did i realize the verse is in 6:8, which i kind of like. thanks for the feedback. this is the first of 7 songs i knocked in a weekend as soon as i got my computer repaired. i was trying to "finish an album in february" for that RPM challenge thingy, but failed. the cool thing is i like the batch of songs i put together.

I love this voice, I don't think the arrangement and the performance are adding much ... tempo seems a bit rushed.

like the lead lick at like 1:35 a lot though

The intro needs tightening up.The bus driver needs to watch crunching the gears when he/she changes them. You cant be sloppy on intros with accents.

Great song, I love the guitar sound. If the rhythm was a tiny bit tighter, I know the problem, Poolhouse, being a one man band myself, this would be an instant classic. Your voice is making this sound unique already though.

I am nearly as biased to your work as I am to one or two others on here so I abstain form voting but will wait and add it to my extensive PM collection when it clears the runway ;)
