This is all written by a fan (Vickie). I have blanket permission to place Happy's music anywhere I want. She hates self-promotion and just wants her music to be heard. She's not trying to "make it" or whatever such ambitions are expected of a female singer-songwriter-musician who makes music because it's what she loves to do.

She lives on a farm in upstate New York and finally released her 11th album, and her first since 1998's Many Worlds Are Born Tonight, called Find Me (now on CD Baby and iTunes).

Happy Rhodes started making music when she was 11, when her mother gave her a guitar to play with. She started writing music soon after, and had become an accomplished songwriter by the time she was 14.

At 17 she began working as an apprentice engineer at a recording studio. The studio's owner heard her voice and songs and gave her free time to record everything she'd written up to that point. He introduced her to Kevin Bartlett, who owned Aural Gratification, a small, cassette-only label to release his own albums. He persuaded her to gather up all the individual songs and release them on his label. They found that she had enough for 3 albums (which became Rhodes I, Rhodes II, and Rearmament) and soon after came a 4th, Ecto. The "1st4" were released on hand-dubbed cassettes for several years before they were re-released on CD in 1992.

In 1991 Happy released Warpaint, her first album conceived and recorded as an album, and the first to be released on CD. Warpaint was followed by Equipoise, RhodeSongs (a compilation of earlier songs, plus some rarities and a cover of Bowie's "Ashes To Ashes"), Building The Colossus and The Keep, a beautiful compilation of acoustic versions and more rarities).

In 1997 Happy recorded the lush and science-fiction tinged Many Worlds Are Born Tonight. It was recorded mostly at home with the vocals recorded in her bathroom. She and Aural Gratificaton parted ways and Happy signed with a new label called Samson Music. They provided the artwork, a wide release, a small amount of promotion and a few live showcases for Many Worlds, then dropped her because they didn't know how to market her music and realized that she didn't fit in with their vision of the label's future.

On her own now, Happy released her 11th album, Find Me, funded by day jobs and self-released. She and her husband, musician Bob Muller, are building a home studio so that Happy will have an easier time of making music in the future.

Some musicians might be connected to Happy and not even know it. Her "day job" is hand-assembling high-end equipment for Dangerous Music.

It's my desire to share her music with as many people and in as many ways as possible. Thank you for listening.

Babar, sorry I missed your question earlier. No, it's not Hansford Rowe, it's Bob Van Detta on bass.

Vickie here (as usual). I was a bit surprised this was rejected but I've been pretty lucky with Happy's songs so far so I definitely can't complain. I am glad that many of you loved this. This song is actually one of my favorite songs by Happy. The lyrics alone always hit me in the gut. They're very meaningful to me personally. Rejected or not, I'm glad it's on her profile. After all, the whole point is just to get her music heard one way or another. I'm content!

Some nice musical ideas are drifting ashore in synthesized sounds

Ambitious, and well done. Vocally kind of hard to get into the groove since it jumps around so much trying to make a bunch of used parts into something new and shiny. It kind of pulls it off, but not in a satisfying way. Kind of like eating three ice cream flavors at once.

Is that Hansford on the bass? Again another hands down winner.

A rich feast for these hungry ear bones. The fretless is caressing my dark soul's resonant frequency. Happy Rhodes is an obvious professional caliber talent worthy of so much more than lanquishing in Fizzle backwater anonimity. We swine don't fully comprehend the pearl.

Nitwit: there are several people here that worship Happy's music. It made me give it a listen. Love some aspects. Vocals especially.
This is the title track from Happy's 1991 album Warpaint, her 5th album and the first one to be released on CD (the first 4 were cassette-only until they were re-released on CD in 1992).

Warpaint

In the red
All the cruelty dealt
To one big soul

In the black
All the hiding from
The pain in the dark

Now as I go into battle
I am armed for the fight
With the knowledge of ten men
Strength of nine

As I walk through fire
I am shielded from the flame
Although the guilty parties
Take no blame

Don't try to tell me there's no
Reason for any moment in time
Every memory of mine
Those years are lines of
Color on my face
My past is warpaint
The past is warpaint

Every line
Represent the death of naivete'
In the air
Every eagle drop one feather
Just for me

There is a deafening warcry
And it's ringing in my ears
It is drowning out floods
Of noisy tears

On the path behind me
I leave many gravesite
Every tombstone
Mark one conquered night

So don't try to tell me there's no
Reason for any moment in time
Every memory of mine
Those years are lines of
Color on my face
My past is warpaint
The past is warpaint

Don't try to tell me there's no
Reason for any moment in time
Every memory of mine
No those years are lines of
Color on my face
My past is warpaint
The past is warpaint

Don't try to tell me there's no
Reason for any moment in time
Every memory of mine
Those years, they're lines of
Color on my face
My past is warpaint
The past is warpaint

And I fight to the death
I fight to the death
I fight to the death
I fight
