(I love his art, aural or canvas

gotcha, I'm not asking you to put up the next Hanna Montana record, but I figured 1 song could be a good exercise.

Love the fizz, love the song, and SANDWICHES RULE!

thanks to all for the comments and for featuring this weird tune. I'm glad you heard it as GOOD weird. Really, thanks for the support.
Unk: I think I may have some more accessible material on the near horizon. I've been playing/ recording with another fizzer lately and even though neither of us generally make pop sounding stuff the songs so far are a lot more straightforward (in a good way, I hope) and may satisfy the masses in ways my and (his) stuff does not. Look for the mystery project backstage soon.

Thanks again team RF, you're the best.

love how your music moves around. cool back story on this. good idea, working on the drums while sober when you've got better motor skills : )
these beck comparisons don't really work for me either. any similarity is at a very superficial level. i'm more familiar with jp than beck anyway. i by far prefer jp, it's got much more depth, i think.

i agree. i used to think beck all the time too but i think that's just a result of media manipulation and product placement. now, i just hear the jp sound.

justin potts sounds like justin potts. he has a very consitent justin potts thing going. its true, i listen to his music all the time, on headphones, in the rain, in portl... anyway, comparing him to beck is like comparing sandwiches to migraines. way to go justin potts, your songs are very you...

well, 1st listen: no idea what to think. I get the Beck comparisons because of the vocals and haven't heard midnight vultures but I know that it was recorded in 3 studios simultaneously with Beck giving instructions via phone and can see the orderly chaos as a similar process.

I don't know if this is valid or even offensive, but just to see what happens, I challenge you to make a song that's accessible or like a radio hit. I think that regular people might shy away from something like this but if you could take it more mainstream like Beck does and then lace it with your imaginal creative baroque inspired decorations, you might have a sandwich that no one could say no to.

Wonderful rhythmic basis, Halfway in between early Pink Floyd and the Fall. An odd combination but it works perfectly.

your stuff always sounds cool
a few weeks ago I had my first sampling of french absinthe and late at night, in a strange stupor I felt compelled to document the experience. I'd recorded the drums earlier in the day. Thanks for listening.
