ghengus23: great down dirty country rock feelin' from the start. Reminds me of social distortion. Not sure if...

Animal Tropical - Fusing the wry and witty songcraft perfected by Steely Dan with tropicalia, rock, Animal Tropical's sound is super-danceable and, for all its quirkiness, goes over big with booty shakers of all colors, creed, and class.

Beatles, Starlight Mints, Flaming Lips, its all here. The distorted quality of the highly bombastic drums annoys me, but since it is in vogue with some of my favorite bands (see afforementioned) I let it pass. LOve the production and arrangement otherwise. This is a pop classic. I can and will listen to it many times.

You may be pleased to know this is evocative of late period Beatles John Lennon, and not just because of the slap back reverb. I say pleased cause it seems like you were going for that, plus, you know, it's The Beatles

Great song. This has a different feel than the other material of yours I've heard. This is delightful and I'm delighted. I care about your art.

mid 60's poppy with a wee bit of dissonance, I would have watched more American Bandstand as a kid if this was what was playing. I might even have tried dancing.

when i sing this song at work and nobody knows what it's about but in Fresno it sort of makes sense. i love the tune but, man, i totally dig that band photo! I hate those kind of artsy band photos where the lighting is all directed and moody and everybody is going out of their way not to look directly at the camera. this is the way it should be. every band could benefit from such a photo, in my opinion. 10 stars.

For me this song mixes the naivity of Daniel Johnston with the loose orchestral sounds of Mercury Rev. This is an instant classic, with all the acceptance of some, slight misses, this is very very well done. It makes me truly happy on this early Monday afternoon. I'm a fan.

Quirky or intentionally obnoxious? Well, not something I'd want to listen to more than once, but it's well done and semi-original and you guys have a style of your own(kind of like Pee Wee Herman had a style of his own).

Piano and organ are really really good. The falsetto gets off at a couple of points, though. Drums come in later than I'd wanted, but that might grow on me. Drum sound is good. More harmonies, aux Mutantes, might help. There they are. At the end. But more prominence, and earlier-- that'd be good. Still, easy feature. Good song. Dr. Dog-ish.
