hey, have you ever played an RPG? well you've given all your stats to 'vocals' 'appeal' 'arrangement' and 'hi hat' but you didnt give any to 'bass' 'snare' 'chorus' or 'dynamics'

This is so good in so many ways its hard for me to tell you its no good, but its not. Its just really really close to being really really good so it seems good. Get that #@&%!ing bass to kill people on its own and get someone that knows how to move that snare around without taking away form the rest of the peice.

the 'you need love' part is rad but the chorus is repetitive and uhhhh sucks.

You're voice is outrageous for someone who everyone doesnt already know.

And real horns and maybe strings, when you have the production budget.

I usually hate everything commercial, but this is something different...potentially.

ok. everything but the picture, and the cheese in the lyrics and the "honey dooo" part, this is good. people are right the singing is good. but when the other elements aren't interesting enough I just want to either turn the channel or worse, sit there and listen with a brain dead smile, like I'm glad i'm brain dead. the thing is I would probably listen, cause I enjoy feeling like that from time to time, I'm surprised this is not all over the radiowaves, its catchy, not very very catchy, but catchy.

Like I said in prelims, great singing. I'd love to hear this produced with live drums and, but the electronic sounds add some charm.

also, in this pic, i see four good looking guys with an unreadable band name. maybe you can make a phone sized version of your cover, since so much commercial music is impulsively exchanged via phone.

everyone's at a different level. this is very good and well done. in nashville sense? you guys know what's there.
this is a great demo and possible international hit single. could go viral if featured in prime cable tv show like weeds, dexter, hung... yet, in my red fizzy dream world - i'd love to hear a non retro, out of the box piece of music from you. it's obvious you are all competent studio musicians. yet, you seem to be toying with a genre that peaked over thirty years ago.
that's what i think some critics will be tempted to say about ANGEL MILES. people who spend money on this, usually spend it on what they heard the first time.
then again - in LA, playing out in santa monica, venice etc..., you might get a chance to do your thing in a movie or tv show. cheers!

A little commercial, perhaps, but not really, since the sound is kind of more vintage than contemporary(how I hate that word when I hear it overused by the likes of Simon Cowell).

Hey, genre-bias aside(to borrow an apt phrase I saw here the other day), this is top notch and a well-deserved Feature.

You can not like this or whatever, but trashing it is just proof you are in some band that sucks ass... one thing I love about this forum.. I get to talk to someone like yourself.. Someone that cares... Bad Ass.. Thank you for not blasting me, and reading what I was trying to say.... Cheers....

no problem, dude. i was just being a little uncharacteristically sarcastic on this wonderful friday morning. i was going to say, "gee i hate it when critics hold back" but that seemed a little too pedestrian to me at the time. i totally understand the nature of the critic and the criticism on this site. i applaud 99% of it. i just wish there was more. for instance, it says on their myspace page that these guys have over 14,000 friends, yet only about 4 or 5 fans of theirs bothered to log in and "review" their song (as well as trashing a couple of other songs). it would be super cool if a couple thousand of those friends would come here, sign up, log in, and stick around. there's lots of good music on these pages just waiting to be heard.

Sputnikov -- with all do respect.. this site is all about non real critics commenting on music, eh? I mean.... the only thing you need to be a "Critic" here is a user name. That's really not much a screening process for ability. Not really sure how you think that peeps is being "halting".. aka imperfect. Everyone here is people given there thoughts.. Not writers, or real critics. Just a thought... Take the comments for what they are... just opinions...

Quite well sung, could be the song Prince had as a b side to one of his early releases.
The band needs a lot more life in it to make it more interesting than a cursory glance,as it is this is the singers vehicle, get the band up to his level and this could be more.

if this does not get a record deal, there is no pop deals available.. I am not really into this style of pop, but GOD DAMN this is GOOD.. Give one of the top 5 producers a shot at this, and holy moly, I just wish I was somehow in the management team.. THIS IS A HIT... YOU GUYS MUST get this to some industry producers, and or movie tracks.... SUPER SUPER Hooky... WELL DAMN DONE.. GREAT Vocals.. I LOVE IT... I LOVE the small amount of distortion on the mic. if that is a mistake.. MAKE SURE TO LEAVE IT... BAD ASS !!!!

Great vocals, very skillful playing, I like this style very much if it hits the right spot or emotion, but I'm afraid this song is just too slick for my taste. Still think the intro and the bridge are the best parts. As a band you show a lot of (commercial) potential though.

Nice low key AOR friendly pop song with a light dash of funk to save it from being banal(aka disco) I was there when this style was in and is pretty damn authentic.

I listen to the 50's to early 70's station all the time. If this came on I'd be grooving in the first minute. The chorus is sub par. Yo I think if you made the chorus stronger made the bass way more boogie. I know you know about this type of music or you wouldn't have been able to write such a good song in this style. That means you must know that that bass isn't moving enough. Don't lose your dynamics thats what made this music killer. You're onto something but by the end its ranks as a cheesy without the charm needed. I really dig it. I'm going feature becuase I think its outstanding in many ways.

Dale has some competition for the fizz soul it seems, fairly decent but (I'm guilty of this) repetitive backing track needs more grit & variety...reminds me of listening to the radio when I was a child, most songs being posted here these days do, and I'm 41!
Well sung retro discosoul

Dig the confident vocal performance and this is solid in many ways. I don't think the chorus lives up to the rest because the melody is a bit predictable, and the sweet, honey, sugar stuff doesn't feel fresh anymore. But despite the chorus, it was an enjoyable listen

Cool!!! "Modern Retro" feeling to it. I really like the chorus, its really really catchy and would be a great song to play out on the lake, or in the bedroom!! It's almost like a bad ass Amy Winehouse male version of a modern soul song.Either someone's getting naked at some point!! LOL!! Keep it up! Interested to hear what you come out with next!!
