I don't know, but from people have written about him a long time ago, no. But rhetoric isn't a good response to rhetoric. I'll go ahead and follow that up with: There are no good politicians and few voters intelligent enough to deserve a say, and no way for people to get the information and perspective they would need to make a decision on who they want to run things. The idea of voting is funny to me because by voting you are acknowledging the fact that you need someone who is much more qualified than yourself to make these tough decisions for everyone and then picking who does it based on sound clips and with no understanding of what they are hearing means.

I know folk who are like the real version of that site too bro, I went to a Christian youth group when I was 17, cos some of my Christian friends went there and they were downright scary, the mind games and emotional manipulation put the whole stupid McCarthy era Red Than Dead bull#@&%! scare tactics to shame, these kids were told to put down whatever skill they had and 'God will give it back to you if you were meant to have it'
Yeah, no one religious group has freehold rights to terror or manipulation, to believe it means you've already got the Vaseline out and am ready for your big date with the media machine

ive had better moments and my fingers type faster than i mature. thanks for saying something though. I'm aware of my often fickle often immature, often overstated opinions but I'm trying to strike a balance and I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm not willing to refrain from outwardly expressing things for fear of having said something that may not be a timeless and perfect example of my optimal temperament.
But did you want to dig in on me personally or talk about what that religious fanatic has to say about music, or maybe about what counterintuitive fast food music means as an indication of society and the ramifications of accepting as art?
No but feel free to take another jab at me, I can take it and I'm used to being misunderstood.

just something shocking i found when I googled 'what is good music' for kicks
"Then you've got your regular country western, and rock and roll, and big band music, and boogie woogie, and rag time, and all the rest. It gets worse and worse and worse, and finally it's heavy metal music; and, lo and behold, all the sudden we are worshiping the devil"

dude, i live in bushwick and go to 'bmcc' which specializes in teaching jamming racial awareness down your throat in every class. I see where a lot people are coming from and I see half of jams point but what noone seems to get on either side of this issue is that divisive answers aren't answers to end a cultural divide.
moving on from that because this really isn't a good topic to get into on a site like this (if for nothing more than will D's sake)
I think that those guys make awful music but it serves as a good centerpeice for conversation. I mean c'mon, my pal foot foot by the shaggs? I dig it! but I know what it is and its the intentions not the product that make me think. Its ART, its not linear. Just like so much visual art is a statement that is so much more than what is literally represented in the image itself.
A funny thought though, what if cooking got considered more along the lines of visual art and some dude served a mcd's hamburger at a 5 star restaurant for $500 and people bought it because it was culinary art. haha

sorry Chris: I was kidding. Honestly it was hard to tell if you were mocking Jams or being serious. I think this whole school thing has you learning or getting smart man.
As far as WET: Jams, I could be wrong but I see that as pretty much channel 1-12???? I don't see racial equality on TV yet, be it subconscious or deliberate.
As far as racial uneasiness: you'll get past it Chris. Especially as you make good friends of diverse backgrounds. You probably already have some good friends with some interesting genese you don't even know about.
Mentality can be hard to discern but these dudes put about as much thought into their article as the songs about scooby snacks. You can't expect great thoughts from a bunch of stoner drop out douchebags can you? You may have fun and gain some insight but why would anyone pay them a 2nd thought.
ChrisMoschetti
[12/8/2009 7:32:52 PM EST]
I think most people who despise racial identity are insecure about some aspect of race/racism and I think the suggestion of an equally divisive solution is really ignorant. (and expressed with such zeal it really is a good look!)
That had nothing to do with the point of the interview which is that an awful song with no content can be very popular and also be seen as an artistic statement on how ridiculous of a song can be consumed by the masses. It also raises questions about how intentional making counterintuitive art is. I really like the part about making sure talib kweli fans don't like it. Thats my favorite part of it.
Was hoping for some conversation on the topic but instead i got these three responses
1. I'm nervous about race and have solutions that only contribute to the problems source
2. The song isn't good but I'm not willing to call it bad and heres an anecdote to prove i'm not close minded, and on top of that I'll follow up with a disclaimer.
3. And my good buddy unk want to know if I'm crazy
Awesome
I come here to listen to music, get some feedback, have some conversations and learn something and I get to listen to music, get written off with a patronizing pat on the back, struggle to get anyone to express an opinion or not dismiss my attempt at anything past pleasant conversation and STILL every so often I do learn something.

jamsmith, nice rant, don't think anyone cares though.
It's hard for white people (especially the ones who aren't racist, haven't seen racism and don't know what its like to be looked at by a white person) to understand it. A lot of people say things like what your saying because they don't feel guilty (but feel that they are expected to) for racism they've never participated in. The nature of the issue is division and only time and a good attitude (not a one that prides itself on being equally divisive, dummy) on all sides will resolve this....
I could talk a lot about it, but that one comment or the credibility of the song itself had not even a little bit of anything to do with the intelligent message of the interview.
Did you immediately conceive of it as having a sociopolitical context? Are you commenting on American over-consumerism and corporate proliferation? Is this a joke that everyone thinks is a graduate thesis, or vice versa?
V: WHY ARE YOU VALIDATING THE FALSE DICHOTOMY OF JOKES VS. SERIOUS #@&%!? WHY ARE WE TYPING IN CAPITAL LETTERS?
This song, along with the oeuvre thus far of Boy Crisis, seems to be polarizing to people: Some love it; some really, really hate it. Though that's not uncommon on the Internet, the severity, in your case, is pretty pronounced. . . . Is any reaction a good reaction? Are you striking a nerve?
H: All I wanted to do was make some jokes mostly about race, though not necessarily consciously over dance music that would serve to undermine it so Talib Kweli fans wouldn't like it. Also, "oeuvre."
CoolFog
[12/5/2009 4:50:15 AM EST]

If this was posted in the backstage. I would probably fail it as repetetive and boring.
I think that the music industry runs in stages and when it is 12pm and you are driving around and flipping the pop stations on the radio and every yes every I mean every bloody song is using pitch shifting.........well you know things can only get better! There is tons of better stuff coming out of NY right now. I am not 21 though and I know if I was 21 I would be sifting through the record stores looking for the wierdest electronic stuff I could find......now I attempt to make it. Right now there is lots of music being made with a retro synth feel to it. I feel pretty good about music because CDs are so popular now the other day I bought 3 CDs for $1.99 each and was amazingly happy. There are all those bands that you passed over when they were big yet you were always curious you can't go wrong if you find a good second hand shop. There was only one track on on CD that skipped and I hear you can fix that with a bit of toothpaste.

As soon I got the part in the inteview where the guy says "I like reading book written by brown people" I was gone. Maybe that's why they call themselves Das Racist.
I have updated by definition of racism. A racist is anyone who lives by a racial identity. I don't give a #@&%! who you are. If you identify yourself as anyone other than who you are as an individual, we will not be hanging out. I have observed that during the time of the segregated south, the people identified themselves as white. They had groups such as the White Citizens Council. More than anything, when wihte southerners started to see themselves a individuals, they started to become less racists.
How many people realize that the "black" mentality of today's urban youth was instilled in them by executives as Viacom? The whole BET thing was created in co-hoots with Jet/Ebony publisher Bob Johnson. They created a culture of "blackness" purely as a marketing tool. Johnson and the Viacom CEO admiitted as much. To BET. "Stay black" means watch BET and buy the #@&%! they sell there.
If I had the bucks, I would start WET (White Entertainment Television) just to show the rest of the world how stupid racial identity.
Like Michael Jackson said "I'm not going to waste my time being a color" (well, it was the rapper LTB on the tune, but you get it...)
